This GBNC site has many Nepali professionals amongst its visitors. I am sure we can start several threads or "interest groups" so to speak on various issues. I am sure we will all benefit from the exchange of ideas on discussion groups involving law, politics, literature, technology, medicine etc. I would like to start a thread discussing medical issues that affect us Nepalis, in general, or personal questions people may have about certain ailments.

I will start of with the question of heart disease amongst us Nepalis. Is there anyone out there who knows the prevalence of this? I recently had a couple of middle-aged relatives pass away from massive heart attacks. I know heart disease is quite common amongst Indians. Genetics vs our food have been implicated. Any anecdotal or published information would be appreciated.

Jitendra Pariyar and Ashish Maskey (with Nepal Hridayarog something) did a research and published a report on a similar topic in the early 90s.... _dk
