BP is a good friend, yes. But as BP himself has made it clear, he has a mind of his own, and an independent one at that, I might add. I am just thrilled that he too has now become a regular visitor here. I hope BP -- and Arnico, Biswo and many others -- would NOT hesitate to say something like "Ashu, your arguments/comments are stupid" when and if I do cross a line here, and give their own reasons as to why my arguments/views are stupid or unconvincing and so on. I would ALWAYS be happy to learn from my mistakes/errors, and am only happy to use this OPEN, PUBLIC forum to learn better ideas/thoughts from others, including you. This is one reason why I champion freedom of speech here even when I am the target of some of these attacks. One thing I have learnt in the US that with conscious efforts and good advising, anyone can become a "better" person. (How else do we, after all, account for the huge "self-improvemnt" market that's in in the US? :-) Sure, look, I am well aware that the the kind of energy I pack into my postings can can intimidate some people from time to time. I write, after all, the way I speak, for that helps me maintain a level of honesty. But be that as it may, rest assured that, hey, I can ALSO sit back and laugh easily and often, not take things personally, not be embittered by unpleasant experiences, and I hope I am NOT such an egghead to think that ONLY I know all the answers, or that ONLY I am right, and so on. God knows, hey, despite all those years in Cambridge, I know how stupid I can be . . . :-) So, to sum up: I don't know all the answers. ALL my views and ideas are OPEN to challenge by you and others all the time. And we can always challenge one another WITHOUT a) calling one another names, b) using profanities c) playing unfairly. And so, we try to play a fair game of decency, honesty, and respect for one another here even when there are -- given the DIVERSITY of backgrounds of visitors -- bound to be strong, heated disagreements from time to time. And if you can come up with better arguments, ideas and views, well, more power to you. There's no need for any of us to be intimidated by one another. Having read this, tell me, you still intimidated? I hope not. oohi ashu ktm, nepal
