>awesome poem. do you know who wrote it?

its something i found at a perl site

here's one that i did write, though

use Things;
my $wants = new Things( desires => 'goods' );
foreach $thing ( @{$wants} ) {
push @merchants, $cash;
push @closet, $thing;
push @{$wants}, $more;
}

SATISFACTION: { confess "I'll never get here..." }

(my first attempt)

Nobody,

who are you? seems like you follow me around? or am i just being paranoid? you know, just because i am being paranoid does not mean you are not out to get me. anyway, if you are here could we chat in the chat room? (nobody is working today and me neither.. . don't tell this to my boss)Also, I would like to talk to you about my name being hyphenated and "....contenious issue of some misogynistic individual."

about the "recommended reading." are you serious? Holy moly, guacomole! Do you seriously think I can read that and understand and decipher the poem? Good Grief!
villageVoice Posted on 21-Nov-01 12:37 PM

dear NK, Biswo and Ashu and all others:

Just to say hello and ack. some nice stuffs that you all have posted lately. unfortunately, been very busy with school papers for some time. Hope to catch up. See ya soon.
NK Posted on 21-Nov-01 12:57 PM

Village Voice!

I was wondering about you. Welcome back and post something 'shikchyaprad.' You were terribly missed.
nobody Posted on 21-Nov-01 01:55 PM

hey! chill out. I'm sorry if you missed the humor in that post. (I even put :-) at the end just so people know).

Well as far as who I am goes, I choose to protect my anonymity. And not regret anything later. Am I following you? No. I thought this forum is free for all and I can choose to voice my opinion when I want to and where I want to... Can't people have differring opinions? Am I out to get you? No. I'm not out to get you. But your reasoning on that one would be interesting. What for?

Is that how it works- personal attacks on people who disagree and patronizing tone on others? Jesus Christ!!! I don't even need an oven to cook my brain, unlike Sylvia Plath!

I don't care whether you hyphenate your name or not. And if you can go back to that thread, that wasn't even my point. My point was that's not a feminist issue. And if that's also a way of demonstrating "feminism" then I know better now.

I will have to turn down you invitation to "debate" because I do have to work and I do have freedom of choice on who I want to debate with and I sure as hell am gonna practice that.

Do I believe I expect you to understand that poem? Yes. If you can ignore all the $ and @'s, it's as easy as that. Rest is all syntax of some script. No need to "get out out of your four walls or smell the coffee" on this one.

The poems also go on to show that not all software engineers are geeks and they can appreciate humor too... And, to me, LCDN's poem was on consumerism.

exactly JdV, Holy Cow!

did some mad dog bit you today or what 'nobody?' Why this outburst? I am speechless.
le chef du nuit Posted on 21-Nov-01 04:46 PM

darn it, this section is about perl poetry.. if you want to discuss it, post it
if not, take your petty squabbles away
i dont want to know your intimate details
couldnt care less about the hyphen in your name
wouldnt bat an eye if you told me you were a mysogynist
what do you think this is, survivor?

that said, heres a snippet that i really liked

#!perl

$man = Man->new (from => 'Nantucket');
length($man->{dick}) and $man->suck($_);
$man->say( do { $man->grin()});
$man->wipe($man->{chin});
if (UNIVERSAL::isa($man->{ear}, 'Kunt')) { $man->ƒuck($_) } } );

__END__

There once was a man from Nantucket
Whose dick was so long he could suck it
He said with a grin
As he wiped off his chin
"If my ear were a kunt I would ƒuck it."

_BP Posted on 22-Nov-01 07:01 AM

NK, I think what Nobody is alluding to is how sometimes you can seem condescending when you are exhibiting your impressive literary acumen and knowledge. I know you were probably kidding (at least I can hope) when you said I should get out of my four walls and smell the coffee because I didn't know who Camus was, and promptly gave me a reading list. Nobody was just trying to do the same back to you. Just because you were wondering...
NK Posted on 23-Nov-01 10:16 AM

Here I am. It is 9:59. Feeling like a moron. Only me in this whole goddam office. Had to finish something and don't feel like it. So I went over this thread and I felt like commenting. This is an old old thread but please, really please, just ignore it if you think 'here you go again...' This reply is for _BP.

_BP jee,'

My list of so called reading list was purely for fun. That whole posting was said in a tongue-in-cheek manner. For instance, Sylvia Plath. Yes, I have read her poems but I don't think she is that great she should come to my list to sit side by side with Albert Camus. One thing, she is notorious/famous (however you wan to see it) for, you know, the-head-in-the-over. Her name has some kind of shock value. You take her name and people immediately throw that refernce before even they start talking about her poetry. As you can see from above posting (just a tiny example). That was just as you might say (lol) stream of consciousness. Just wrote what came to my mind at the time, somehow relevant (to the topic) but strange looking (sounding). Yes, you were right when you thought I was joking when I said "come out....smell the coffee." When I talk to somebody in person I never ever talk like that, especially to a stranger. So, when, in a cyber space, I said something like that, it must have come off as crude. (I talk in that manner only when I know the person :) very well, for instance if I am debating with my brother). One more thing: Yes, I like (very much) Emily D. Somehow I think i am influenced by her and by Sapho. The 'saramsha' of this posting? I apologize for sounding so "knowledgable." For, I know, I am not.
_BP Posted on 23-Nov-01 03:34 PM

NK, of course I know that...and I didn't mind at all :)! It just seems that Nobody thought you were being a little pugnacious, because in his reply above he made some references to what you said to me. Don't worry, I enjoy your postings, especially when you are standing up to my good old friend Ashu, the "cyber bully." The lack of vitriol is refreshing.
