"Namita Kiran Hyphen Theune" wrote: Hey Ashu: give it a rest, will you? for your kind information "Namita Kiran Hypen Thuene" does not give a whole lot of gold for what you pretend to think. Hey, why don't you quote something from my pvt. email here like you seem to do all the time to satisfy your child like confused behavior? you start to annoy me like a little mosquito who just buzzes around unwanted. Swat!!! Shoot! i missed it. ********** Dear all ladies and gentlemen of the GBNC Web site, In plain English and in the most straightforward way, the above goes on to show us that one can claim to have read heavy stuff like Plath, Camus and Gita and all that stuff of 'wider, liberal learning'. That's one side of the coin. But the other side of the coin is that: Despite such ostensibly 'wider, liberal exposure', when it comes to giving space to ideas/viewpoints and even jokes and comments different from one's own, AND debating/discussing "bad" ideas with "good" ideas IN PUBLIC while learning to enjoy such freedom of speech FOR ALL, one can STILL consistently display the kind of thinking shown above. Moral of the story? Such hypocrisies/such inconsistencies and such sheer disjoints needs to be PUBLICLY exposed and commented upon, regardless of whether it exists in Ashutosh Tiwari's postings or in someone else's postings. Putting things out in the open and learning to deal with it is the ONLY way we all can afford to be keep ourselves intellectually and emotionally honest, while allowing room for learning from our mistakes of habits and errors of judgment. This may sound boringly earnest, and even corny; but I totally believe in it (after, of course, having made my share of mistakes and having learnt from them -- so, hey, I am NOT claiming to be a saint :-), and, having been totally conviced of this, I am not afraid to bring this up again and again. All of you are free to comment or not comment on this in ANY way you like. oohi ashu ktm, nepal

Ashu: Yes, let us keep ourselves honest. Let us be responsible. Your insistence in referring to Namita as Namita Kiran Hyphen Theune is not responsible. She does not post under that name. She did at one time. But no longer. That is a choice she has made, consciously obviously. By using her name time and again (with that silly "hyphen" spelled out in between the two names), even when she has indicated that she would rather not have you do that, you really are infringing on her right to her privacy and YOU, my dear, are NOT being honest. I know you and some other brave (fool hardy?) souls have no problem with using their own names. Great, but if someone chooses not to, please don't keep going at it. This goes for even if at one point they did. So, having said that. Whoever said reading great literature and having "wider, liberal xposure" (whatever that means) mean anything. Educated people, people exposed to the world outside their circumscribed like can still be bigots and it does not mean that these peopel are suddenly without the usual human foibles. I am all for keeping ourselves honest and public debate and takign each other to task. But what is happening between Namita and Ashu really does strike to me as somethign way beyond intellectual banter and merely a=an excersie in keeping eachother honest. It is more like mudslinging and public humiliation. Again I ask, who is going to be the first to stop? And about responding to yours or any post ANY way one wants to. I think the basic criteria to ANY post should be respect, and yes honesty. I for one do not want to be subject to hatred filled crap (read some of the other recent posts), even if it is not of a personal nature. So I guess this is my respectful and honest response to your post. Thanks Ashu. I do enjoy your posts even if they irk me at times. :)

Okay, chuck the first part of the last post out! Sorry!!!!! Went to the thread about Camus and saw that NK referred herself as Namita Kirane hyhen theune herslef. OOPS!! I thought I remembered reading her say she no longer wanted peopel using her name! Maybe she did, but since she chose to use it again and you were merely responding to that, I take back my "you are not being responsible/honest" comments! Oh well. I am very very slow on the uptake sometimes. Really am sorry, again.

>Ashu: . >Your insistence in referring to Namita as >Namita Kiran Hyphen Theune is not >responsible. I agree. That is why, to be responsible, I copied that name from NK's own posting, and pasted it above UNDER QUOTES. OK, there . . . I tried to get away on a technicality :-), but, overall, I agree with you. >So, having said that. Whoever said reading >great literature and having "wider, liberal >xposure" (whatever that means) mean anything. > Educated people, people exposed to the >world outside their circumscribed like can >still be bigots and it does not mean that >these peopel are suddenly without the usual >human foibles. Agreed. That is all the more reason to point that out loud and clear in public. Sure, you make some enemies that way, but then who says maintaining a vigil in an democracy is an easy task? > But what is happening between Namita and >Ashu really does strike to me as somethign >way beyond intellectual banter and merely a= >an excersie in keeping eachother honest. It >is more like mudslinging and public >humiliation. Like all great "battles" here, this too shall pass after some time . . . let's the battle run its course and peter out on its own. That said, I believe in the practice of NOT using profanities and not calling other people colorful names or comparing them to animals. :-) >And about responding to yours or any post >ANY way one wants to. You, too, please keep on posting stuff, and please don't let silly attacks faze you at all. We are all made up of much stronger stuff. oohi ashu ktm, nepal
