Post Report

KATHMANDU, Nov 25- The first website of internet-marriage, www.marriage.com was launched with the initiative of the International Marriage Service Centre (IMSC) here today in the capital.

Speaking on the launching programme, Sarbadhan Rai, State Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation said that the traditional marriages often breaks up because of the unfamiliarity of the bride and the groom before the marriage.

Maheshwor Kumar Shrestha, president of the International Marriage Service Centre (IMSC) highlighted on the importance of the net marriage in Nepali culture.

"IMSC plays a role of a cultural ambassador to promote and facilitate marriage," he added. The website’s main objective is to arrange or facilitate marriage between Nepali to Nepali and Foreigner to Nepali.

Prem Bahadur Khanal, Legal Advisor to IMSC said that the main objective of the websites is to make arrangements for the foreigners and Nepalis who wish to get married to one another so as to provide legal and other resources for the procurement of marriage licence.

Tourism minister plays the marriage counselor, and IMSC attempts to promote marriage.

BTW, how does one have a "launching" program for a website? Does the minister type w-w-w .. and presto.. the damn thing appears, and bhasans everywhere...?

‘traditional marriages often breaks up because of the unfamiliarity of the bride and groom before the marriage”?

Excuse me, which world is Sarbadhan Rai living in? Traditional marriages more often than not do NOT break up. The woman suffers quietly will taking care of her husbands (and his parents) every whim while he ‘dates’ other women on the side.

diwask, perhaps they launched the website by having a ‘hom’ and applying ‘tilak’ on the screen??? I wouldn’t be surprised if they did!!!

The following is from their homepage. Seems to be focussed on Indians. Why does our tourism minister waste his time inaugurating this? Does not he have enough work shoring up the tourism industry in this situation, if nothing else?
