Today's nepalnews.com says that the government has decided to declare State of Emergency. But what does that mean to us, to the day to day lives of sarva-sadharan janata in Nepal? Curfews? Travel restrictions? Bandhs? Shortage of food and other materials? Border closings?

Perhaps someone from Nepal, Ashu for one, can keep us updated on how it is at the street in Kathmandu. How about it Ashu?

I wouldn’t be surprised if the most visible effect is the shortage of food. Seems to me that most shopkeepers / vendors just need an excuse – any excuse – to hoard supplies and hike up the price.

It's been a few days now. So how has life changed in government-controlled Nepal for people trying to get by without involvement in politics? Any news?

From what I have heard

In Kathmandu people have been asked to carry an ID all the time.
Most shops/stores close by 7 PM.
