One thing that strikes me in KTM these days how relatively normal life seems here even in these days of Emergency. Friends in Pokhara and Chitawan and other big places report the same thing.
Of course, there isjust a helluva turmoil beneath the calm surface.
Still, that's no reason not to go dancing :-)

THE TANGO LESSON

The tango - a dance of passion, centred on the intricate play
between the sexes. It is this dance that forms the central
metaphor in Sally Potter's The Tango Lesson. Sally (who
also wrote the script) plays herself, a film maker, whose life
becomes bound up with the tango, and more specifically with
her tango teacher, Pablo. Strong-willed and independent, she
has to learn to follow his lead when it comes to dance, not
something she finds easy to do. The tables are turned, however,
when it comes to film making, because if Pablo wants to star in
Sally's movie, then he too must learn to follow. The growth and
resultant pain and tension that such changes require of both
characters form the "lessons" of the movie. But always in the
background, like some charm which will hold them together, is
the music and passion of the tango.
