The man is a joke posting and pasting all kinds of silly nonsense all over the e-forums of the english speaking world. He might had gone to Harvard thorough his connection (re: CIA program called network effect development)and claims to be an emotionally and intellectually matured leader of Nepal. What I have observed him to be is a pseudo and mechanically plastic intellectual. He ventures in the world of Psychiatry and labels groups of Nepali people as paranoid!!!! Just shut your mouth if you do not know what you are bragging about. Have you a trans-cultural psychiatric professional degree to rationalise or generalise empirically that only 5% of Nepalese are statistically optimists. Where did you adduced the evidence? Who is your scource? This character is the most prolific man that I have seen to be Narcissistically suffering from a personality disorder. May be he suffers from being sexually molested by his jesuit priest from St. Xavier's days. Has has only inflated his ego like a puffer fish with lots of venom to spread around. He talks about marketing but does not understand the menaing of brand euity or top of the mind share.... How can he market himself or Nepal apart his own gaand to the brother pedro padre jesuit of STX.

Today is only my second day posting on this forum and I must say I have found Ashu to be the most sensible voice on this forum. I did read some of his older postings but nowhere did I get the impression of an egoistic maniac in anything I read. On the contrary, I thought he had some very well thought out postings to his credit. Barring one or two cases, I found myself agreeing wholeheartedly with what he had to say on a lot of the issues. Maybe it is just me being new to this forum and never having argued with him, I don’t know, but he seemed to be the most interesting and colorful character on this discussion forum. I never got the impression he was trying to preach. He seems to be a pretty opinionated person but argues well and can explain why he believes in whatever he believes. All right enough about Ashu the character, I don’t know the guy personally and don’t want to rub the wrong way many of my new GBNC acquaintances whom I have met in the past 24 hours. But, if I may, I think it would be great if many of those who post very personal, and often malicious, remarks against others stopped attacking fellow posters at a personal level and instead criticized ideas. Discrediting the messenger to discredit the message is the oldest trick in politics and many of us on this forum seems to be shamelessly engaging in this dirty practice. Just my thoughts

Dear Orion: I am with you on this one. However, unfortunately, and maybe not so unexpectedly, a lot of us log on here not for discussions on serious matters, but for entertainment value. I know I come here mostly to be entertained and at the most exchange ideas in a lighthearted manner. To each his/her own. I think people get annoyed when someone like Ashu posts a lot of profound messages on various issues (sort of like people having disdain for people who contribute fancy-smanshy articles to school magazines like the Godavarian I suppose) He is also prompt in his replies to people who respond to him. I believe this rubs a few people the wrong way, for whatever reason. The very people who accuse Ashu of being insecure, are not behaving like they are very secure. I should think that if they really want to make an impression on Ashu, they would be better off writing back well-thought out arguments (ala Biswo, Arnico, and most of the time NK, ANepaliKT, etc). Those always seem to get a rise out of Ashu, evidenced by his more frequent replies to them. I know I enjoy simply reading these articulate exchanges. But when people start using pure vitriol, I mean what the hell is that? But unfortunately, until we can screen out all profanity ( and I am sure Smok3y will find a way), we will have to push that under the rug as free speech. I do know Ashu personally. Sure he has his shortcomings, as I am sure he will be the first one to admit himself. Sure he brims with confidence, but never have I known him to just dislike/ hate someone without justification, and especially call someone out in public. Ashu always believes he can make a difference, which is what a few people here don't seem to be able to stomach. I have disagreed with Ashu a lot. Do you what I would do? I would say, Ashu, "I think you are way off on this one," or, "I disagree to agree with you," followed by, "Hey, let's get some coffee." before he can hit you with a repartee. Or maybe its pizza that distracts him. Unfortunately you cannot do this online, so you must pretend you didn't see his reply if you are so inclined. One thing is for sure. There are few people who can hold a conversation like Ashu. I know it is useless to state again that we should refrain from hurling insults at him, for apparently some of us find entertainment in doing just that.

Dear Orion (who I do not know) and BP (who I know quite well), Thank you for your good words. I really appreciate them. BP wrote: >Ashu always believes he can >make a difference BP, yes, without false modesty, I can say that this 'belief that one can make a difference' [in Nepal or elsewhere] pretty much sums up my entire attitude toward everything I do and have done -- personally and professionally. Thanks for a lot for your friendship and cyber-friendship (to Orion and many others). oohi ashu ktm, nepal

Dear Mr. subramanium: I am a new participant to this forum, but I have seen enough to make an initial judgement on its validity. I have seen enough of Ashu's postings to aver that he is spreading himself out thin. While the seer volume of postings will not establish one's intellectual depth, it does show a diversity of interest. No one can be an expert in everything one likes to discuss about. For high quality specific knowledge, there are professional journals. The discussions here are more visceral than intellectual. No one can have same intellectual breath and depth in all topics one expresses his/her opinion on. I have myself dismissed Ashu's comments when they showed lack of knowledge or maybe poor judgement, for instance when he equated poverty reduction with wealth enhancement. But that does not mean one cannot express opinions or paticipate without a professional degree. I find the personal attack as manifested by such labels "psuedo plastic intellectual', "narcissistically suffering from a personality disorder", and "egoistic" as crossing the line of decensy. Further, your speculation about CIA network connection and sexual abuse by the jesuits are uncalled for. And they are unfair remarks. Personal attacks and name calling never improves the quality of discussion that you seem to care for. You could help the discussionif you disprove his claims and challenge his asseretions by your own sheer intellectual brilliance and demonstration of your superior knowledge. In the process you would have exposed the thin ice he was treading on, and helped us benefit from your correct and learned scholarship. Now, isn't that what we aspire to achieve through discussion? Lastly, before you make further assumption about me, I will clarify here that I have no association with Ashu or other participant in this forum. I was neither educated by jesuits nor did I cross his path in the US universities. I just feel that such unjust and vicious expression shoud not let pass without objection. PEACE.
