Are you trying to be recist ? Your words might undermine
peoples of "PODE" jaat. Well, their family job might
not be so descent in the past, but, even if its UKHAN
lets not use from educated mass like GBNC.org .
Its true that many jokes and ukhans in Nepal
are based on Jaat-Paat, but, such discriminatory
words should not be used in any ciscumstances.

Sorry to point this fact. Meanwhile, as this site
is adult's gathering (to my knowledge), I don't care
much you become vulgar or Sexy, but, no room for
recism knowingly or unknowingly.

GP, Thanks for pointing it out. Sorry. Didn't realize it as I just took it from an email sent by an acquaintance who was happy for me to post it here. On the second thought, let us not be a hyprocrite. Everything in Nepal is based on jaat paat, the very thread of the society is jaat paat, everyday life revolves around jaat paat, many of the decision makings are on the basis of the jaat paat, and many discussants here have also taken the issue of jaat paat. Saying is one thing, practicing is another. The jaapt paat remains the center fold in the making and breaking of the society. A few of us with exposure to outside world or somewhat temporary? thinking may not give much to jaapt paat but it is very much there in our day to day life. I don't think it is bad to discuss the issue of jaat paat within the extent of civility and sensitivity. Let us not pretend like we do not deal with jaat paat. The very essence and beauty of the chat room like this allows you to discuss freely what's on your mind and what impacts our daily life. Fair enough?

Dear SP,

I did not mean we don't talk JAAT-PAAT in this
forum, but, I meant we do not portray those
"dirty " jaat paat based ukhans. Oh! Bro,
I just said lets avoid those things, and if say
we preach or pretend things otherway round,
why not we discuss, but, lets point out that
if someone writes some UKHANS which is
derogatory to certain JAAT, why not we
avoid such ukhans if its not possible to avoid, lets
minimize the uses of those ukhans.
If you (readers) and me do not start, who will start ?
Our political leaders use so freqeuntly I feel ashamed,
and they give the same reason, I found above.
Lets try to avoid, even using in this way
"Racists jasto dekhiye pani, ma jaat paat badi
ta hoina, tara pani , sandharva ayeko ma use
garya matra", even this is objectionable at least
in my understanding. Even in my real life here,
when some use such ukhans, I jump over them,
and they have same reply as above, but, lets
face it and try to minimize. I know its difficult,
but, if you put some SATARKATA you will surely
be able to avoid. You know, Tokyo governer
Mr. Ishihara, use SANKAKU jin, in his speech
and he also gave the reason taht its japanese
word used everyday, but, continuous attack from
press, he said, I will try to avoid in future, and
the press was again unsatisfied, and finally,
he apologized. The sankaku jin was meant to
non-Japanese in pre-1945 days like Korean
and Taiwanese who were treated as if Chor
thugs, ... lower class people in Jap. society.
So, I do not expect use of derogatory words from
educated persons like you, and don't get disappointed
and lets try.

--GP-ji,

I am not trying to be jaatibaad here. But people who have lived in Baneshwor, Chabahil side of kathmandu know that there is a tole called "Pode Tole". I am not sure if that is the official name of the tole. Here, sp was just asking a gaunkhanekatha, and i dont know why you said it is bad to give a pode tole as a gaun. Is'nt is better to say it with out being racist or is it better to avoid saying it becasue people might think you are racist if you said it?

What Pode's do is not a high standard work. But should they not be called Pode anymore? So I should not say I am a magar or a tharu anymore becasue that creates sparks? I think it is better to bring it out, my identity, whether i am magar or a tharu, or a newar, or anything else, and still be OK with it.
