Yup, heard it on the telly last night. Why I am not surprised? He (like the other Beatles and a lot of bands from the 60's) has always been heavily influenced by Hinduism and the mystic of the East. What was that sadhu's name again? The one the Beatles were big devotees of? Darn, my memory's failing me in my old age!!

Hoina, hoina, they collaborated with Ravi Shanker on some fusion songs but they were big time followers of some seedy-looking sadhu. I ought to ask kancho the next time I see him in the chat room, he’ll know.

NK The CLeveland Rock and Roll hall of fame has an exhibition on Lennon and among other things, there was an excerpt from John's writings where he went on to deny that the song "lucy in the sky with diamonds" had nothing to do with LSD and had everything to do with his son, Julian's, puppy love in school called Lucy. Apparently, Julian had done a drawing with a girl and stars and when questioned, Julian had replied that it was lucy in the sky with diamonds and thats what inspired John to write that song. Well, the conclusion I came to was - okay it had nothing to do with LSD but he must have been on something to write a song about that!!

Harrison was not "always [...] heavily influenced" by Hinduism and eastern mysticism, and it is common knowledge that McCartney, Lennon, and Starr were not "big" devotees of the Maharishi in the same way that Harrison was. The generalization about 60s bands is accurate enough, however. There's still some question as to where Harrison's ashes (Varanasi, Allahabad, Brindavan, elsewhere) were scattered, though it's safe to say that George and Jerry are mixing things up right about now.

In 1980s, when I was in summer vacation in KTM, I found a series of banners "tapaiko sahar ek naya upahar aunai lagyo".... I was so surprised that there was no hint about whats coming there except logo. In winter vacation, I found it was PEPSI, the rival drink of Cocacola. Well, its business trick and let San run his banner, Sajha.com will be coming and lets hope it will be really SAJHA thing and we can share its usefulness. San, I am waiting for the Sajha.com . Keep it up. GP
