Dumb,
Here is the meaning:
1st stage: when you are small kid, you are so innocent that you believe everything - there is a real Santa Claus.
2nd stage: when you are teenage/grown up, you become such a egoistic boy/girl that you start thinking it as just a story, unreal.
3rd stage: it is the stage when you are so matured that even you know that it is unreal, you want to keep it countinue for your children, as a tradition.
4th stage: it is when you yourself become really old like Santa Claus
So, it is more and less Mathmatics of aging, isn't it?
