YiYo Posted on 08-Dec-01 10:20 PM

SAN IS "THE MAN".
Are u New in Town? Duh!
Gandhi Posted on 08-Dec-01 10:35 PM

May be San should include different spelling variations of these F* words, including the hyphen, space or any others, in his filter. Right San?

Theoritically, you can write an algorithm to eliminate all variation of the word F*, but practically it is very time consuming algorithm if you write one. There are 68 printable characters, and at maximum, you will get 68 to power (N-1) combination, where (N-1) is number of characters in the word F* .

i.e: to eliminate all variation of word f67cki&^g:

suppose one combination is F* 9{ \ @ & , which has N =7, and ignoring F, we have (N-1=6)
so, 68 to the power 6 combinations. Then, you have to comapare the 'input' 68^6 times that is big running time. However if you use efficient data structure like Hashing, you can reduce runnining time less than 68^6, but that turns out to be still big .
However, we can eliminate "some" variation of F* easily.

San the Man, told me the other day that the website speaks to him. He is one with this site.
