With all respect to the ladies and their decision regarding conjugal life,I just want to put forward a question that frequently strikes me specially when I read news:Spinsters in politics are very very bizarre and their acts really ludicrous. Shailaja Acharya is pretty much deranged lately. What she says is more capricious than what Girija says. She says she doesn't want to stand in the general election, then she loses(btw, her mom said just before election that local people treat Shailaja almost like god!!)and berates the establishment(of course,of NC) of scheming to defeat her.She says she will contest for party presidency, and she even said her way of announcing candidacy:by 15 day fast!!Man,is she crazy? What the heck her Upbaas/Shanti Yatra stuffs are? Mamata Banerjee, who sometimes displays statemanship and fighter spirit, is also pretty much maverick. Her actions are really crazy. Her election speeches, her relationship with center are all very much conducted in a ludicrous demeanor. Is it or isn't it?

It perhaps goes for men too! Look at Krishna Prasad Bhattarai for example. He too has a plethora of ridiculous and at times questionable acts which may be ascribable to his spinsterhood?!. Sociopaths may be a far cry, but it does seem spinsterhood might lead to insanity, doesn't it, at least in the case of Nepali leaders? ;)

Rajendra: I agree KP Bhattarai is ridiculous.(Compare:BPKoirala, an antithesis of spinsterhoods with such marvellous novels like Sumnima ,Hitler & Yahudi and Shweta Bhairavi..).But KPBhattarai has no cause to be totally sociopath, because his wayward desires are generally catered by his lankeys. > >Sociopaths may be a far cry, but it does >seem spinsterhood might lead to insanity, >doesn't it, at least in the case of Nepali >leaders? ;) Shailaja is a sheer disappointment, whatever you say, insane or sociopath.I find her life and political gimmick so disgusting everyday. No wonder some Sadvabana guy defeated her. Her personal life is not my concern, but her political life is in such a doldrum and still ,she is not displaying any brilliance to salvage it.How did she dare to ask for presidency,in fact, an unanimous presidency,of NC?

You are right, spinsters are women. Celibates however is a more general term and can be both men or women. I never knew Shailaja was such so pathetic until you described here. I always thought she was some sort of a rising star in Nepali politics! As they say, you can fool some people some of the time, but you cannot always fool all the people all the time!
