Deuba was granted over 20,000 shares of Enron (ENE) during the mid 90's for showing his loyalty to the American company. Deuba really worked on it. The shares were given to Arju Deuba's relatives who reside in Washington DC. Poor Deuba's (aakashko fal aakha tari mar vanejhai), Enron shares are worth pennies now. It is said that Arju's recent visit to the US was to convert the shares into cash. On a similar note- similar thing had happend to our Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat. He had helped the Laxmi Bahadur Shrestha and his organization to aquire Harisiddhi Itta and Tile Factory from the government. A deal worth Rs. 20 lakhs share was transferred to Dr. Mahat's relative's account. The shares were valued at about Rs. 16 per share. Recently the shares traded at about Rs. 2. There has been other cases, where the shares have significantly gone up- like that of Dabur, Nepal Lever to name a few.
