What a dilemma, “to register or not to register”! It has been made clear here in this board, by not registering one can’t be taken seriously, or should I say, all the posts will be taken as irresponsible posts. Some people argue that one MUST post in their own name for it to be credible. I don’t have much to say about it. One and only say I have is, I agree with most of the posters in here who thinks its irrelevant. Going back to the register dilemma, few things have come up in my mind. Basically we are saying don’t bring your dirty garbage in our neighborhood unless you pay a fee up front. However, this does not guarantee that it will stop people with dirty garbage, does it? In cyber world one can easily create a pseudo name or pseudo email. No one can stop guys like Anand Argrawal and Ranit Rana from posting their garbage. Then the site administer can go ahead and ban the IP. What if the poster is from some college using shared computer where more than one nepali is attending college? Won’t that be like banning the whole college? Now, what do I get by registering? A registered pseudo name. Will anyone know who I am? NO. Will my email get flooded? May be. It wouldn’t have made any difference if I had decided not to register to this board since I am a passive contributor of this board (a reader). I fall into a category of those visitors who log in to this site to read great thoughts and even greater debates. I bet there are quite a lot of people in this category. Thus, I registered in support for great thoughts and debates. (and of course some fun). sangam.

Since there are a lot of discussion going on about whether to register or not, It is fine with me as long as I can post as an unregistered user, whether that is "Kurakani" or "Open Kurakani". But main question I want to raise here is question of privacy policy. Is there is privacy policy of GBNC about how the information gathered during registration process, even if that is only actual name and email address, are going to be used. I think it is becoming mandatory in the Internet to have one privacy policy of each site if that site wants to collect user information using one method or another, whether through IP tracking or registration prcess. If my mailbox is spammed because I provided GBNC with my actual email address, then who would be responsible for that. So, in my view, before proceeding for registration process, GBNC should have one privacy policy which should be guied by W3C guidelines: Service providers should: - Communicate explicitly about data collection and use, identifying the purpose for which personal information is collected and the extent to which it may be shared.
- Use P3P proposals to communicate about all information they propose to collect through a Web interaction.
- Prominently post clear, human-readable privacy policies.

And also, if provide registration process, then there should be a provision for unregistering.
