Hello Everyone,
How is everything going with you all?
Here r few questions:

Q. No. 1: A man wanted to enter an exclusive club but did not know the password that was required. He waited by the door and listened. A club member knocked on the door and the doorman said, "twelve." The member replied, "six " and was let in. A second member came to the door and the doorman said, "six." The member replied, "three" and was let in. The man thought he had heard enough and walked up to the door. The doorman said, "ten" and the man replied, "five." But he was not let in. What should have he said?

Q.No.2: You are in a cold house in the winter. It is dark. You have one match. There is a candle and there is a wood burning stove. Which do you light first?

Q.No.3: Four people meet in a room. Each person shakes hands once with each other person. How many handshakes are there in all?

Q.No.4: A man and his son are in a car accident. The father dies on the scene, but the child is rushed to the hospital. When he arrives, the surgeon says "I can't operate on this boy, he is my son!" How can this be?

Q.No.5: A black man is wearing all black. Black shoes, black socks, black trousers, black jumper, black gloves and mask. He is walking down a black street with all the street lamps off. A black car is coming towards him with its light off too but somehow manages to stop in time. How did the driver see that man?

Q.No.6: An Arab Sheikh tells his two sons to race their camels to a distant city to see who will inherit his fortune. The one whose camel is slower will win. The brothers, after wandering aimlessly for days, ask a wise man for advice. After hearing the advice they jump on the camels and race as fast as they can to the city. What does the wise man say?

Re Q no. 2: Pardonez-moi, Le Chef, but you might want to light the match first ...

Btw, a few years ago at a childbirth class, one of the first things that happened (before I got taught how to breathe and my husband got taught how to remind me to breathe) was that all of us prospective parents in the room were given a quiz. The question went, more or less, as follows:

"A plane full of people of many nationalities is traveling from the US to Chile. Unfortunately, the plane crashes on the border between the US and Mexico. In which country or countries were the survivors buried?"

The interesting thing is that not a single American answered that question correctly! I think everyone was still allowed to have their kids anyway, though ;-)

>>>"A plane full of people of many nationalities is traveling from the US to Chile. Unfortunately, the plane crashes on the border between the US and Mexico. In which country or countries were the survivors buried?"
>>>

Why the survivors need to be buried?? They can die anywhere they want later. :-)
sally Posted on 17-Dec-01 04:15 PM

Exactly. It was pretty funny that not a single native speaker of English caught that at the time!!! It just goes to show how much of communication gets filled in by the listener. We hear what we expect to hear, and it's not always what was really said.

I forget why this question was asked during a childbirth class. I suppose it had something to teach about what it takes to be a parent. About listening. Not running on automatic. Being ready for the unexpected.

If you are joining RNA, they ask you one question quite certainly,
how far a Tiger in Jungle can go?

Hint: you are going to be a RNA, so Tiger in Nepal.
Give your right answer. If you fail, you lose the job.

sparsha Posted on 17-Dec-01 07:03 PM

G.P.
I already mentioned this question in one of my postings few weeks back.

The answer is "who keeps a tiger from roaming in a jungle, so can enter NOT go as much inside as he( since it's about toger not tigress) wants, right?"

Well, not exactly. The accepted answer was (not sure if still is): A tiger can ENTER only half way thru the jungle, after half way he will be EXITING not ENTERING. So, I guess a tiger can GO IN half way in a jungle after crossing half way he will be COMING OUT.

Is this the answer you expected or I just goofed off?
GP Posted on 17-Dec-01 08:50 PM

Bro,

I don't know the exact answer. I wish your logic behind your
answer is convincing to me. Logic pays.

You know when I was undergraduate student, there was
very simple question to calculate value of x upto 1 decimal
places. I surprisingly got it x=1.0 and did not have any rounoffs,
then, I added a comment, the value of x is exactly 1.
So, my answer was x = 1 (in the last line). The professor
deducted 1 marks for telling that its exactly 1, he said
there is nothing exact in real world. That really pinch me
all the time, when I am about to defend on "EXACT ANSWER".
So, in gray world its logic that works very well, but, if
your superior is occupied with some other answer your
total score may be -1 less than what you expected. So,
that half the jungle width is Ok for me, but, not sure
whether RNA boss will accept it.

Thanx for the "exact" lecture. Appreciated. Made my day, Guru.

Sparshan ji,

I had replied to your email box about Dr. Khatiwada. I know
him, he is a good friend of mine since 1988 when we were
both gurus in a coaching center in KTM. If your identity
is known (SParshan) to Dr. NRK then, I can just call him
over Telephone and let him know about your presence in
GBNC.org. Anyway, I will be happy to serve you.

Well, you can find contact addresses of Nepali students
and researchers in Japanese Universities by surfing
the URL

http://www.nesaj.org/
(Nepali Students Association in Japan = NESAJ).

Well, you (all the fellows in GBNC.org) can also view
NESAJ Patra, the mukh patra of NESAJ. You can even
contribute some articles. Well, NK ji could you please
write one POEM for the NESAJ Patra, I would like
to recommend them to contact you for the POEM,
I am not joking. What about GBNC President's
goodwill and friend ship message in the NESAJ Patra.
I am not authority there, but, I can arrange such
goodwill cross messaging.

Thanx, G.P.
I can call him from here. I just wanted to know if he is still there. I know he is about to return to Nepal. Do you also know his family? (I mean there in Japan not in eastern Nepal).

We know each other but I don't think he knows who sparsha is. Sparsha is my title like "bhavuk", "Bibas", "pyasi", "dukhi"...etc. .

Thanks again.
GP Posted on 18-Dec-01 08:18 PM

If he does not know who Sparsha is, its better you
contact him. His email address was there in neasj.org
web site.

Yes, I know them. He knows me as "GP" or full formed.
