It was surprising to see length of validity of a free hotmail
address, getting shortened everyday. Initially, it was
120days, then, 90days, then it was 60days and last
time I was notified that you email expired because
you did not login for contineous 45days, and only
last week I got 30days warning. They are slimming
this duration, means they going to change such
email addresses will be available only for those
who pay certain money as annual subscription fees.
Those who do not pay it will probably loss their
email address in 30days now, but, in future I guess
this duration will be even shortened to 1 week. Which
virtually, pain on those who check emails once in
a week or months, especially, the MSN has realized
that hotmail addresses to peoples in developing countries
generate no revenue to MSN, and the peoples in
developing countries do not check emails every day
that we do in developed countries. And, the premium
fees will be as low as 10dollars per year. Thus, this
amount will mean a great resource to them. Why?
its because of the popularity of MSN messenger and
its text chat , voice chat and live image chat
capability. MSN can use these utilities as a means of
collecting revenue to them. As we know, both side
requires to have .NET Passport ID to hook to
MSN Messenger, thus, it will be dillema to those
who were enjoying this free service for long time.
MS alwys play game of money, dirty tricks, so,
I have started to feel the trick to be applied to
users addicted MS Messengers.

I am drawing this conclusion because of the close down
of many free email service providers and they have
turned to premium email addresses. In case of MSN
it may take another year, I guess not more than 2 years
from now onward. Keep on watching how MSN hooks
its dirty tricks.

PS: if you are going to your home in remote village for
more than 30days, make sure you don't loss your
"hotmail " email address, it is especially important to
those who have common email address, like
nepal@hotmail.com, pokhara@hotmail.com
or shrestha@hotmail.com or ashreshta@hotmail.com

Try getting an e-mail account with yahoo, spread the word around. If you're successful in getting the word around I'll bet msn will resort back to 120 days.

Its a classic microsoft tactics. You should see their lincensing scheme for office suites now that its the de facto standard.
