Yeh, who is going to be Kurakai's man of the year for 2001? Who has made a greater impact to this site this year, for better or for worse reason (in the same tune as in the Tima magazine)?

Why only MAN? Why not PERSON? Or MAN OR WOMAN?

thanks Arnico... Kurakani like TIME seems to be more male-gender biased.

Biswo and Ashu compete for the title. NK--Sally is fast catching up--will go as a runnerup. That said, my consolation award goes to GP. Equally important, what is/are the Topic/s of the Year? Who are the authors? Which threads attracted most hits? To recapitulate, I started out in April-May (?) when Ashu, Biswo, NK and Sally were already GBNC veterans, and honestly, I was a bit uncomfortable about the idea of tossing my opinions to an interactive public forum. But have I enjoyed GBNC since, some brick-bats notwithstanding. Also, let me take the opportunity to thank Ashu, Biswo, NK, Sally, GP, Diwask, Suman Pradhan and all GBNC fellow posters (San not the least!) for a great, great kurankani. Some of your ideas were most thought-provoking (never mind if we didn't always agree!), and that helped me make better sense of a very disturbing year. Royal massacre, Sept 11, Maoist rampage, and now army crackdown. Finally, while ideas by themselves are important, they would die a premature death if we don't take pleasure in tossing them for public consumption in the market place of ideas. Never mind if some of these ideas are unpopular and controversial. So much the better. Many great ideas had a controversial beginning anyway. My two cents.

Hi all, Instead of having some "person of the year" sort of thing, let us all work hard -- to the extent we voluntarily can -- to make this site the "Nepali Web site of the year" in 2002. Visitors -- REGARDLESS of schooling, social and economic and geographic backgrounds and so on -- need to be attracted here: a) to READ on many thought-provoking/amusing/entertaining ideas, opinions and views of other provocative Nepalis and friends of Nepal. b) to POST their own comments freely without, of course, going the Ranjit Rana way (i.e. sending hate mails to the Web master and spreading lies about others.) c) to keep this site humming with news, views and so on. A glass of eggnog to all that. oohi ashu ktm, nepal

Prince Paras certainly dwarfs any other contender to qualify the most disturbing irony of the year. His mere existence equals one thousand and one colossal arguments against the very institution he stands for. However, in view of TIME's choice of Rudy Giuliani over Osama Bin Laden for the person of the year, we better find parallel personality in the country. But this thread is probably not about that. Its about the Kurakani's man (person) of the year. Prince Paras does not seem to have found enough explicit coverage here (my juvenile observation). Besides, we probably are talking about the poster, not the subject. I think VillageVoice has made a good selection and comments as well. Ashu's response with a patronizing note may be an indirect effort to win our support :) Nevertheless, I think he deserves nomination, if we exclude the literature section. If we include the literature section, Biswo overweighs. May be we need to have a separate 'literateur of the year'. Any thoughts ?

Me? Man of the year? I am sure VVji, and Nepeji are kidding here. -- I think we all tried to make this site better. Right now, a lot of smart people come here because they think this site is becoming mature, and worthy of visit. San did great job in sanitizing this site. People definitely think once before they try to throw dirt here. He worked the most. We need to acknowledge that.Rest of us are colleagues. And I echo Ashu's comment here: Instead of having some "person of the year" sort of thing, let us all work hard -- to the extent we voluntarily can -- to make this site the "Nepali Web site of the year" in 2002.

Are you people(intellects?) awarding a hypocrite a trophy for being so ? Man there must be something wrong with the people on this thread. The man who can talk the talk(like diarrhea mouth) but when it comes to walking the walk. His mommy has to come help him. If there is any award he eligible for, that would be the hypocrite of the year award. He should get a lifetime membership at the hypocrite's club.
