Arnico,

Apropos your "starting a university in Nepal" idea, have you looked into the working model of The University of Phoenix? This university seems to have
come out of nowhere, and is now the largest university in the US.

Now that there is this need to CONTINUALLY go back to school for working professionals of all ages, the UoP -- with diverse course offereings and selling quality with ease -- styles itself as something like "Harvard of the future", and
is aggressively recruiting top faculty members and students -- both in terms of quality and quantity.

I am quite intrigued by this university's business model, and it might be worth
your while to find more about this university, and see whether some of its good practices could be incorporated into your idea.

Thanks for the links. The Chronicle of Higher Education is actually one of my favorite newspapers... so I have been following UoP's downs and ups, as well as those of rival institutions building up large online programs.

An non-degree granting, community service oriented approach to making available course material online is MIT's new OpenCourseWare program. Check the link:

... have to run now. Have a huge pile of work to get done in the next few days.
Hope to be more active on kurakani after that.

Arnico.
