To celebrate the important occasions of the International
Year of Ecotourism and the International Year of
Mountains 2002 and to launch their programs for IYE/IYM
Nepal Tourism Board in Exhibition Road, Kathmandu is
holding an Exhibition and Interaction Program on Monday
January 7th.
In the NTB Auditorium Hall there will be an official
program (commencing 10am) during which the NTB's program
of activities for the IYE and IYM will be launched. It
will also feature the launch of the Sustainable Tourism
Network Website and the Sustainable Tourism Network
seminar program for the IYE and IYM. In the afternoon
there will be a series of presentations on ecotourism
and mountains in Nepal, followed by an interaction
program.
There will also be a program in the NTB Exhibition Hall
(Open 9:30-5:00) with poster presentations and book/
publication displays from Sustainable Tourism Network
participants and others which is open to the public.
Sustainable Tourism Network participants are practitioners
(NGOs, INGOs, and private sector) in ecotourism and/or
sustainable tourism in Nepal.
Aims
* Celebrate the importance of ecotourism and mountains
in Nepal
* Stimulate discussion of the key challenges and lessons
learned in ecotourism and ecotourism in mountains,
* Provide a forum for interaction with the tourism
industry about ecotourism and mountains,
* Provide a venue for display of work in ecotourism
in Nepal,
* Promoting Nepal's innovative established and emerging
ecotourism products,
* Raising awareness of ecotourism and the fragility of
mountains in Nepal, and
* Raise awareness of the STN.
