By reading your poor grammer and spelling anybody can say that you are Alu in real. This site is not for you. Go to some Alu sites where you can find more Alus. This site is for the high profile nepalese.

Excuse me, Mr./Ms. High Profile, but "Alu for real" is incorrect. Please say "an Alu for real," or "really an Alu," or "an Alu in reality." And in the future, please capitalize "Nepalese." In addition, your use of the word "the" prior to "high profile nepalese [sic]" is also debatable. I'd tend to drop it. I didn't realize that there was an English requirement for using this site. What a wonderful break for me! I'll be happy to propose myself (for a small fee) as official English gatekeeper, and now with my handy dandy English Mistake Warning Device I will just bar every posting which is insufficiently "high profile" or insufficiently grammatically correct, including even Ashu at times, so I guess it'll be a pretty quiet site. Oh well. Them's the breaks. BEEEEP BEEEEEP WARNING WARNING GRAMMAR MISTAKE this posting will self-destruct in one second ...

No one is making fun of Alu. We're defending him, for gosh's sake. But OK, I'd also like to know the answer to that question. Phone cards are a pain, and a lot of times they're a ripoff to boot. Half the time they don't connect, or end up charging for calls that didn't get thru, and then you have to call and get the money put back on the card, blah blah. Has anyone found a genuinely good solution? (No responses from dealers, please!)

If you're calling KTM, Kantipur card from Dhukuti.com is best. I'm using Kantipur and have no problem at all. However, I have heard there's some circuit problem in Nepal because of SAARC summit. Good Luck! Hari

I have tried different cards with the same result: no luck. It once worked when I called at 9am eastern time. Here's what a lady told me. She has been getting calls from her folks in Kathmandu without any hitch whatosover. She suggested that I ask my folks to buy calling cards in Kathmandu, and a certain British card (?) allows 3 hrs for $10. I am not sure if the arrangement works for all of us. Speculation: Maybe the NTC has jammed incoming calls (from outside Nepal) so as to facilitate intra-SAARC calls for the duration of the SAARC summit. If they could stop traffic, bring down private houses, close govt offices, etc, for the benefit of a handful of VVIPs...jammming is no big deal, really :)

Hi, Thanks a lot to Sally to defend me against, high profile users of gbnc. Actually I'm from Nepal and my native language is Nepali, English is my 2nd lang and I can not read, write and speak properly. I dont thinks so any of those High profile nepali who speaks and nepali association functions in english they are also doing mistakes in grammer and pronounciations. So if any one in gbnc wants to be high profile I will just tell them go to the hell. Pasupati Nath le lay kalyan Garun

Call to Nepal or other asian countries I found a long distance carrier not a calling card company called "011Communication". They are giving a deal to Nepal 10.9 cent any time but needs commitment of atleast $20 of calling to nepal every month and also provides 20 min free every month. Monthly connection fee is $4. Sounds like a good deal. Other Asian countries are also cheap. You may give number (510-796-1952) as referrer. By doing so I get little credit. Here is the number to call "011Communication" 1-888-992-9292 ext 6565 Name of the person : Samir You can check your current long distance carrier by dialing 1-700-555-4141

Calling Nepal, whether using calling cards, direct from home, or using access codes (10100, etc), would be extremely difficult no matter what the providers claim. In the US, only AT&T has a direct agreement with NTC. Other providers including Sprint and MCI have to send their traffic to Nepal either through AT&T or some other carriers having a direct relation with NTC. Himtel has tried getting discounts from AT&T on bulk purchases, but to no avail. They know that they are the only game in town so they are not reselling to other providers at "reasonable" price. We are now negotiating with providers in other countries. Hopefully we can work something out and provide calling facility to Nepal at around 50 cents per minute. I will update GBNC.org with any progress. Thanks. Hemendra Bohra Himtel

Dear "One Client" I really don't know when we be able to find a good and reasonably priced route to Nepal. You will definitely get to use your $40, but probably not until Feb, and not at the previous rates. If you want you can call 18005436540 and ask our customer service agent to refund that money to your credit card. Sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you (and others). Thanks. I have been using other card similar to himtel, it's working. This card is far far better than himtel, try to give a call at 1866-MY-NEPAL, $10 gives u about 35-45 minutes depending upon the time u call, try it u won't be disappointed, numb

Hi, Just rcvd news from nepal. Himtel used to be a king of calling card on past. Whole reason behind this, was General manager of Nepal Telecom. After some changes inmanagement at Nepal Telecom Himtel lost their lines in nepal. before that Himtel has reliable service in Nepal, No one try to interrupt their service. But all technecians and management people are aware with Himtel using Power and Nepal telecome lines for personal business. Himtel made thousands of $$ over past years and Nepal Telecome lost thousands of $$ in revenue. But you know it's nepal, If you have your own man in power no one can stop you. This is the story behind cheap calling cards. If any one knows who was GM of Nepal Telecom please post. nepali kancho

I think someone is really against Himtel and I see why nepali have a back biting tendency? They dont wanna see others do well. I dont see anything wrong with Himtel selling cards. Lots of people were selling cards and doesnot been Himtel was a success it did anything wrong. Common wake up people. If you have the guts why dont you compete with himtel in a better way. -haha

Lahan dar ma bhetine golveda jasta thiye phone cards to Nepal ahile ta kathmandu dar ka golveda jasta bhayechhan ti phonecard haru. I was/am also trying to call Nepal but wanted to pay good old 12.5 cents/min. or 15c/min. (to ktm) not whopping 45 or 50 cents/min. But where are the cards? A friend of mine says, he uses a card that runs for about 75 minutes for $10.00 and no connection fee. But he also adds (after I insist on buying one) it's like taking a tyampu (three wheeler) from Jamal/Ranipokhari to Bishalnagar after dark. I know what that means. So I said, "not interested, then." K ta aba golveda kathmandu dar mai kinna parne bho ta, ganthhhe?
