Don't You worry Indun Poet, I am planning to continue for at least another few months. Until you all start to say, "bho babba bho, pugyo..." :) and thanks biswo. on another note, I am not so sure about suserka starting a discussion group. They could publish 'letter to editor' sort of thing. That (discussion gr.) would be branching out for susekra, a whole new pandora's box, i would think. are they ready for it? Basically it is a lit. magazine and i think it is doing fine. what do others think? Also as a preemptive measure (beofre people start to shred my typo-filled story into pieces), I apologozie for all those typos and grammatical mistake.

Suppose, suppose: Our good old Paschim had posted his "gaunthali and bhurtel" saga in some literature section here or elsewhere, would that saga have garnered that much interest, that much feedback, that much continuity and so on? I don't think so. What would have happened? At best, a few people -- literary types -- would have commented on it, and, for the most part, it would have been safe to assume that that writing would have sort of languished in the literature section, and that would have been that. End of the story. Thankfully, mercifully, Paschim's writings -- which were/are much better than those who claim to "do" literature -- were posted in this MAINSTREAM open forum, where it attracted all kinds of readers and commentators. To Paschim's credit, he did not burdern his postings with some oppressive and self-congratulatory "literature" tag, and that was -- I would think -- one reason why most of us had had playful, witty, and dare I say, fairly sophisticated fun reading and commenting on his postings. The idea of good writing is to have serious, intellectual FUN with it -- NOT uncritically put it on some pedestal as some de facto works of literature Moral of the story? Those of you who consider yourselves literary types, please think long and hard about NOT 'compartmentalizing' your efforts in some self-consciously exclusive literature section of suskera.com or sajha.com. Those sites and departments have noble intentions, to be sure; and I appreciate the hard work the people behind them have put in. But frankly, after having read too many amateur (in my perception) and just too bad/khattam and jhoor pieces/poems there and here, I -- a critical reader -- am often NOT sure whether: a) to be honestly/openly and even aggressively critical of some of the writings (without, of course, going bare-knuckles with some of the writers who need, well, I suupose, easy encouragement, pat validation and that sajilo glow of peer-approval). Parts of me want to do this so that this writers feel more challenged, more engaged to do their best -- or so I naively think. or b) should I just simply keep quiet and mumble a few words of appreciation from afar for, well, doing what they can to keep "Nepali literature" alive (whatever that means!) For the record, I have opted to do the latter. But those of you who REALLY, REALLY want critical/merciless comments about your works, please do consider about posting your stuff in this MAINSTREAM forum where you can attract all kinds of readers and commentators and you will see what different people think about your work without lifting it up as some great literature. Anyway, just my thoughts; please feel to free to disagree. oohi "not a literary type, but a fan of good writings whereever such writings may be found" ashu ktm, nepal Share it with all. Ask for feedback. Be ready for merciless comments from others
