Dear Friends,

I think there is no need to explain the importance of "ability to commmunicate well" in order to succeed in professional as well as in our personal life. Many organizations as well as their staffs feel frustrated because of their lack of ability to market themselves. In a reasearch it was revealed that people find public speaking more fearful than death.

Some organizations spend a lot of money in training to improve their communication skills, but with not so satisfactory result. Those highly structured 4-5 day class room training program may help some professional speakers to improve from being good to better but can not transform a basically shy and hesitating person to speak out. It takes patience, time, encouragement and motivation.

Our life will be different if we can express ourselves better. That can be guaranateed.

To improve my communication, I joined Toast Master since last two years, invested some nominal money and time, and you would not imagine what I got. I improved my communcation skills so much in two years that I could not do in my whole life. It is a friendly organization, which will increase personal confidence, assertiveness and help you overcome the basic fear of communication in a most friendly and "safe" ( members are extremely polite and welcoming) environment. It is managed by the members themseselves which could be you, if you are ready to give some.

Beside learning to communicate better, you come accross many other professional friends.

Who can join Toast Master club: Any one with basic knowledge of english: junior to high level staff professionals, house wives, students who are desirous to improve their communication. Fee is radiculously low, in view of service we get.

If you want to go as an observer before joining the Toast Master club as a menber, you can ask me to sponser you as a guest. I will be delighted to invite you.

For further detail please go to its website by just clicking on the address : http://www.kathmandutoastmasters.org.np/index.html or cutting/pasting the address.

Warmest regards

How much hami-haru overlook the power of the spoken word in life. Debating, questioning, analyzing are not things we Nepalis value. The club could be a great venue to begin realizing those things we have missed all along. Way to go Toastmasters!

Oh absolutely!

The ability to communicate well -- orally and in writing -- is a powerful skill no matter what one ends up doing in life.

I am surely sending my younger brother and cousins to this Toastmasters'
Club to help them make their communication skills better.

A Toastmasters Club in Kathmandu? Now that's an interesting idea!!! Btw, I was a participant and an officer at my company's, now defunct, chapter three years ago. One thing I realized was that, like any Club, it's as good as its members. Having said that, in the US and esp in NYC there are so many chapters that you are bound to find one that most suits you.

One question, why NOT do speeches in both Nepali & English. Afterall, the ability to speak fluently in both languages must be very important in Nepal or am I mis-informed?

Yes Gaule, the ability to speak fluetly and impressively undeniably serves us tremendously. If you are good orator, I think you can easily win the MP seat in Nepal especially from Kathmandu. Once in get-to-gether(party), I heard one Nepali dai was talking about well known person of Nepal who served many ministerships, ambassadorships ( including of US) soley because of his oratory skill and personality. Contentwise, he said, that person is totally empty despite having Ph.d from one of US University. I don't the veracity of his accusation but the point here I try to emphasize ( with that example if it is true) is abiltiy to speak well does matter no matter where you are.
