One of the latest research by NIMA,which featured the six-time
Everest climber Pete Athans(The most number any westerner has
managed until now) as research group co-leader, found that Mt
Everest is moving towards China at the speed of two-six milimeters
each year because India is being shoved under the plate that
supports Nepal and China.
For those students of geography,this occurence,called 'continental
drift' in plate tectonics, is a normal geological phenomenon.This
is also presumably a reason behind the genesis of Himalaya in
the past.Youngest of the mountains,Himalays are yet to move
northward and become taller!!
We need to look for alternative source of 'pride' before Everest is
totally under Chinese territory.Under Indian territory? It is
unlikely.Once again,India will become cause of loss of Everest
for Nepal,however!
