Nicole Kidman Friday January 18, 2002 Source:Extratv From the highs of Oscar buzz surrounding her performances in "The Others" and "Moulin Rouge" to the lows of a painful public divorce, it's been a bittersweet year for Nicole Kidman. But now, a new Nicole is emerging. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- She says, “I would never go back to that year again. I would never want to go back." “Extra” sat down with the actress at the star-studded Sundance Film Festival, just days before the Golden Globes, where there's lots of buzz about Nicole. She's up for two major awards: Best Actress for "The Others" and "Moulin Rouge." With those two hits under her belt, the newly single actress is enjoying a new kind of star status as a major Hollywood player in her own right. And now, a year after separating from Tom Cruise, Nicole is philosophical about the painful breakup of her nearly 10-year marriage. She says the greatest thing she has learned is "that the downs give you the appreciations of the highs. That somehow it all humbles you.” Professionally, Nicole couldn't aim higher. She's already signed on to shoot three films this year, and come Sunday she could go home a golden girl. She says jokingly, “Win, lose, any of that stuff, I don't care. I'm going to party, so watch out." After a year of big budget studio pictures, Nicole turns her attention to a small movie. It was an independent film that brought the star here to Sundance for the very first time. It's called "Birthday Girl" and for the first half-hour, she barely speaks. Nicole says, “It's wonderful. You don't have to learn any lines."
