Lot of Nepalese in the US do not have healthcare or medicare plans through their work. Does anyone know how this works? Let's say you don't have healthcare insurance, and you get sick. How do you get free care?

Please share from your experiences.

County (government-run) hospitals provide care for those without insurance and who cannot afford any. They provide good care, but the waiting can be long in hospitals and clinics. Many states have special programs sponsoring free care for children. Some elderly people can qualify for medicare, medical, etc. Your best source of information would be a social worker, either in a local clinic or hospital. Of course if you wish to pay a little, you may shop around for the best deal on an HMO.
