Mero Gulako Kanda ho Nepal, Nepal
dude Posted on 31-Jan-02 08:17 PM

"undeclared" dude obviously you haven't heard many of his songs and u don't like him. btw, bought one robin n' looza cd. they're no different than any other REGULAR nepali bands. i suggest u start listening more to NKB. u'll thank me afterward for this suggestion. happy listening to NKB
Undeclared Posted on 31-Jan-02 08:55 PM

dude: Nabin K? is for sissies. I have listened but he sure ain't my cup of tea. He is for sissies, you know the ones who fall in the trap of the bitches. Grow up and listen to real mujak bro, you wastin time listening to that crap. Some cheap melodies copied over and over again, thats all I hear when I hear his songs. For me he is the biggest fake. He's tried copying Kenny G to Pink Floyd, how can you call that music!
numb Posted on 31-Jan-02 11:54 PM

guys,
Nabin is the best, about Robin n'looza, what about Mukti and Revival, Xmarika, albatross, fifth grade dropout, ozzobozo, nemesis., refused 13, cobweb, Jennith, obviously u guys haven't heard of them much, they are the rock bands of our country, they are good too, if u hear Xmarika's "YO MERO NEPAL, YO TIMRO NEPAL, YO HAMRO NEPAL", u would love it, for rock fans those band rocks Nepal,

nabin is the best, his new album SAMARPAN is good too, it's not as good as his previous ones, but still touches ur heart with "JALAN", "IRSHYA" and "BIhani Kiran sangai samjhana ley", he is the dude man,

I can't believe that Nabin Bhattrai is not in the list. Apparently, the organizer of this poll is not in touch with recent Nepalese Music.
Janga Bahadhur Posted on 01-Feb-02 01:38 PM

Undeclared! I agree with you. I feel sorry for those, who admire Nabin B. as a high-quality singer. I have listened couple of his songs too. I feel sorry for those, who admire Nabin B as a high-quality singer. Guys and girls, there are better singers and songs to listen in Nepal. By the way, does he sing anything else than love and tragedy? Most of the time, I see him weeping and howling in his songs.

Sorry for redundant sentences! This is the first time I am posting here:p

Wow, so many responses so quickly? This is a good sign. I did think of having Nabin K. Bhattarai on the list too, but I could only put 4 entries in the poll and I also wanted to see the other end of the musical spectrum (hence Ram K. Dhakal and Sukimt Gurung). So, I had to take Nabin off the list. This does not mean he is not being considered.

BTW, this poll is taken for a POSSIBLE concert tour in the coming year. Nothing is definite yet but we are looking into the possibility of inviting a few popular Nepali singers for a US tour. If there are other artists that we should be considering, please let us know. Perhpas, we will conduct a modified poll when more comments are in.

Dear Bik,
It definitely is a tough job to select best four singers/bands for the poll. How about conducting a poll without giving any options, so that the voters can give the name of the singer/band whom they like to hear most. In that way you can see who is in highest demand and plan accordingly. However, I have never seen poll like my suggestion in any website and don't know how practical it is. Thanks

Nepathya with new lead guitarist Naresh Thapa rocks!

I believe Nepathya deserve to be the #1 band in nepali music scene today, then
1974 AD. I like Himalayan Band, Robin n Looza, Mukti n Revival and
most of all, my all time favorite oldies, Prism band with Deepak Thapa,
Subarna Limbu, Sunil Uprety, Dev Rana. Currently, Nabin Bhattarai has a huge fan following mostly girls in Nepal, HongKong n Darjeeling. I think they all have huge crowd pulling power in the US.

Nabin Bhattarai isn't the best, at least in my opinion. The best musicians have to be unique, their music has to contain authentic innovative style. Nabin sounds good, he is talented but he is no where close to Nepathya. Nabin Bhattarai music is geared toward young girls and his music really sounds like a girl singing. His music is basically a Hindi pop, only translated into Nepali.

You can listen to Nepathya and tell the world this is "Nepali music." Nepathya single handedly created Village-Pop, which is the sytle most newcomers try to immitate. Success of Nepathya paved the doors to musicians from outside of the Kathmandu valley. Their enermous popularity reminds us that we Nepalis like sentimental pop music, yet love for Nepali tunes run in our blood. You need to check your pulse if you don't think Amrit Gurung is the best vocalist in Nepal.

I totally agree with u santosh. the two best bands are nepathya and 1974 ad. no one even comes close. best vocalist alive is Amrit Gurung of Nepathya.
heck, two best bands in the entire world are Nepathya and 1974 AD. Had they been some band in US or some European country, they would have been popular worldwide. 1974 ad have some good english songs as well. 1974 ad and nepathya both can sing any kind of songs. from lok geet to rock.

i have to admit, nabin K. is pretty good. infact, he is very good. mukti and revival are good too and so is okeely. Robin and Looza? give me a break. Have u heard their remix of "jati maya laye pani". it sucks. if u want to hear a good remix of "jati maya laye pani" listen to 1974 ad's remix of it. its excellent. guitar work is suparb. ramkrishna dhakal is OK. not that good.

i urge all u to go see 1974 ad if they come to Cali. i know that they are coming to virginina for the ANA convention.

What? Are y'all on crack? Nabin Bhattarai is awesome. He's probably the best singer out there. As for Loocha, or whover, I have no idea who he is. I haven't even heard of 1974. Nepathya is aight.
