let me settle the score. 1997 AD is by far the BEST band in nepal. There are few good ones out there but 1994 AD is the best. I would have to say Nabin K is good but not the best. People like nabin k .come and go but 1974 AD is here to stay. They are good in every way. From lyrics to music. They perform wide range of music. from nepali folk, adhunik, hard rock to blues rock.
Ramkrishan dahakal was good in his first two albums. but once a singer starts singing for nepali movies, thats when he goes down. He comes nowhere close to the swar samrat narayan gopal. There are other bands that have one or two good songs. like Okely's "gulabi jadole" . I have to say Mukti and Revival are good too. But when it comes down to picking one band, no one even comes close to 1974 AD. I am living for the day when they do a remix of swar samrat narayan gopal's "khai mitho baata gara".
drop few lines here. would like to hear from u guys.

I don't think so. The best band in Nepal is Nepathya, Kandara and Namaste Band.
Also, Classical, it is Indra Gurung not Sur-Sudha(any way they is no more sur-sudha).

i'm a bog nabin bhattarai fan but i do agree that 1974 A.D id pretty good. i like their "blues" touch in their music

dude! what part of jhapa are you from? cause I'm from jhapa too. And yes, 1974 AD are very good with veriety of music.I think mukti and revivals have lot of potential...they are very unique.

dude i am from sanichare which is 5 km north of birtamod. and what part of jhapa u from? again, 1997 AD, the BEST band in nepal and in my opinion in the entire world.

WHat Band ? You mean a child's play ? They play crappy music and have SWANG DWANG bigger than of vetrans like The Stone's or U2. I'd rather have tradional's like Naran Gopal get more recognition. All these So called Nepali Rockstars are only good for one thing and that is drunken hooliganess.

The band is 1974 AD and not 1997 or 1994. :)
And they are one of the best bands around. Their song "Pahile junimaa" is awesome.

dude, i'm not putting 1974 AD in the same catogary as narayan gopal. u can't compare those two. its like apple and oranges buddy. i said the best "band". and that does not include the swar samrat narayan gopal. he is in a whole different level. Swar samrat naryan gopal is THE BEST. period.
i'm talking about new artists and there are lots of them out there. until about a year ago all i used to listen to was narayan gopal, bachhu kailas, dharma raj thapa, jhalak man gandhrava and the likes. then i gave these new emarging artists a try and foud 1974 AD to be the best. and not all rockstars are "drunken hooliganess" buddy. I don't want to take anything away from swar samrat narayan gopal, but he had quite a reputation for getting drunk.
if u feel that all rockstars are "drunken hooliganess" , then that just goes to show how ignorant of a person u are.
its allright to admire the old and the new ones at the same time buddy. listen to 1974 ad. listen to their music, lyrics and then maybe u will like them.
listen to "parelima" for excellint guitar.
also if u want to listen to something out of the norm, listen to "bichari chari"
want some lok geet? listen to "ubo jada"
there is also an excellent remix of "jati maya"
want englilsh/nepali combo,listen to "samji baschu"
want all english? listen "sixteen bar blues"
give them a try buddy. and i am sure u will like it
