Wanted you guys to know that if you've been having problems calling Nepal, using calling cards, use the AT&T calling card found at the SAMS club. A 600 local calling minute card allows you to talk for 50 minutes to Nepal. It costs $20.82 + tax. (Approx $21.50). After you do the math, the calling rate comes out to be around 43 cents/minute. Go to http://www.samsclub.com for more details

I know an even cheaper card. You can find it at http://nepalusa.prepaidonline.com I opened an account yesterday and called KTM. It worked. 59 mins for 5 dollars. I think it works for US too as it has the same card dhakal ji was talking about. But Asia Express card in the site offeres lower rate than that mentioned by Dhakal Ji. 59 minutes more 5 dollars. cheaper than any other cards. Great rates for other countries too. With rates as low as 1.9 cents per minute to United Kingdom, France, Australia, Canada, Singapore. 10 dollars card gives 951 minutes for USA. 0.49 cents connection fee here. But cards to nepal have no connection fee. flat rate. 59 minutes for Nepal with five dollars. Nepal USA phone card http://nepalusa.prepaidonline.com Hope that helps.

Can anyone besides the one who posted this message please verify if this card really works. It seems like a real good deal. But i want to know if it works before purchasing the card. So, if someone has already brought the card through the site, could you please tell me if it works. What are the rates to Nepal? Thank You.

phoneshark.com worked for me. i have nothing to gain by lying to u guys. it worked twice. both when calling ktm and jhapa. got all my minutes and clear connection. having said this, all u guys out there wanting a conformation from those who used it, take a frikin chance. taking the intiative to find out for yourself. $10 is not that big of a sacrifice considering not being able to talk to ur folks back home. The best calling card, huh? The best card is one that works when you try to make a call. The best way is to "TAKE ADVICE, DO NOT BELIEVE". Try any products on your own risk: eigher you get connected cheap or you loose that much money.

To call nepal is getting more like winning the lottery. Pay $10 and then keep trying for ever, loose your minutes and money. What's the point of getting cheaper card? Just buy where you trust and works even if it cost you little more rather getting all those hassles. SK

i'm really sorry if it didn't work for u guys. it worked when i called about two weeks ago. i'm sorry if u guys lost money. it wasn't my intention to mislead any of you. someone asked about cheap calling cards to nepal so i told them that phoneshark.com worked beacuse he had worked for me twice. again, my apologies if it didn't work Suman

I also bought a card from Asia Clean card. It didn't work for days. I felt bad for a while, then I thought oh well! at least I took a bit of risk. Today after days I tried again, and guess what? It worked. I called two different locations in kathmandu and it worked in both cases. I guess they work but at rare occasions, you just have to keep trying different times, good luck

All cards being carried over AT&T lines are the only ones that work. Dhukuti.com sells these and it comes to 48cents a minute. Here is the trick. dhukuti.com cards are actually Sam's Club cards. Once the card finishes instead of buying another card from Dhukuti.com call AT&T and recharge the card and you will get 41 cents a minute.

And that is called Gorkhali para. That's why our country is really behind. No businesses can do well in Nepal from big industry to small business. One good example was: Sangrila channel in Nepal. They spent so much money and started a Shangrila TV channel. My point here's not about who is the owner and he's bad or good. The point here's enterprenuership, developing economy in the country. The Shangrila company sold decoder to decode the TV channel in your room but instead somebody from border pari made a nakkali decoder and everybody started using the nakkali one. Yes it's mostly Govt. fault because they don't make law quick and enforce it properly but it's also citizens duty to implement it. There's no ethic at all. Same here, instead of supporting some nepali daju bhai who's giving us good service, we're trying to pulling their leg. Our thinking is always like this guy is doing good let's make him fail instead of support him. Sounds like we're going to save and earn lots of money now. Good Luck! PG

Hey PG, whats your point? do you want everyone to pay for himtel?

No, I'm not saying anybody to pay Himtel, Tel Nepal, Nepalisite, Dhukuti or anybody. All I'm saying is how we all like to save money whether it's in good way or bad way. We never appreciate how these enterprenuers are trying hard to give service to a nepali community. There's no disagreement that they're trying to make money but think about it how much money do you think these nepali enterprenuers are making money. I don't think they're are making good money. Most of these businesses are selling to nepali customers only because they're selling only calling card to nepalese. We all agree that Sajha.com needs money to maintain this service, there is ISP expenses etc plus his own effort. Similarly Himtel or Memory call needs money to maintain too for web service, 1-800 phone, they're giving you more than 12 hrs. of service. On top of everything they have worked very hard to bring cheapest and good quality card. If we don't support them we'll have to expensive long distance again. I responded my previous posting to "Card" that if you wanted that cheaper why don't you just drive or buy from Sam's club and keep continue recharging. Basically my point was ethically it's not correct. If I were him, I'll just buy directly from SAm's club in first time. In addition, my point was to support our nepali enterprenuers. PG

PG, I think you are missing the point. Let us be practical. If both the parties are selling the same card for different prices, I would buy from the guy who sells cheaper. There should be product differentiation (better of course) in order to buy the expensive one. I can provide you a real example. I have a sort of brand loyalty towards Himtel, but they are now charging higher price for the same card(in the sense that I can not distinquish the quality)than that in nepalisite.com. So, I bought a card from the latter. Before I did not move to say telnepal, because I knew (or believed) the quality was different. Similary, I will now recharge the same card if it can be recharged from Sam. Afterall, I am not getting that card illegally.

Card is right you can recharge the card with Sam's club. But remember one thing though, you will have to provide your credit card number via a telephone and believe me it is lot simpler to intercept your cc info on the phone than on the site such as Dhukuti. Your cct data when it leaves your keyboard and goes through these sites are encrypted so there is virtually no chance of your cc info being stolen by some thieves listening in on your phone conversation. The encrypted cc info goes directly to the "cc processing" company and even the vendor, like Dhukuti, does not see you cc info.Only the bank does.. So even if I have to pay a few dollar extra I'd still buy it from Himtel, Dhukuti and other online sources. Thanks

You are stupid Yeao, Didn't wanna say that but couldn't help it. On the internet, before the encryption, somebody could be tapping every keystroke on your keyboard via some software installed through the internet/e-mail and you would not even know it. When you goto Target or any other vendor and use your credit card, the clerks/cashiers can easily figure out your credit card number/expiration date etc. and steal your valuable info. You might trust Target but how can you trust the clerks/cashiers?? If you wanna be safe, don't use your credit card otherwise forget about it. Get my point sire?

Digital Maniac is right but remember this, it is lot easier to use a simple FM radio to listen in on someone else's phone conversation than to secretely via email, Back Orifice or other hacking tool to install an unwanted software on someone's PC.
