I have same problem few years ago. I have a friend of mine translate Citizenship Certificate (nagarikatako Pramanpatra) and submit copy of both languages. INS accepted it. I hope it helps.

You could get your Ward office in Nepal to certify it. It should be on the official pad and should metion your name, your parents name, place and date of birth. It should be enough.

I think there was a similar thread on birth certificates a few days back. If I recall correctly, someone suggested getting in touch with the Nepalese Embassy in DC.

The Royal Nepal Ambassy said that they DO NOT do that. Whoever informed us about that was wrong..

I'm also trying to get my birth certificate. When I contacted my relatives in Nepal, they said that the VDC is closed by Maoist. So, there is no way I can get it from my ward or VDC secretary. Please let me know if you guys know any other way to get it. How about you, Immigration (the originator of this thread) ? Did you find any info? I appreciate your input in advance.

Go to the CDO of your district. They must prepare the certificate (letter) on official stationary with rubber stamp. The letter should state parents names, date, and witnesses. This can then be translated. Get someone to DHL the letter to you. Everyone should have a birth certificate on hand as part of you documents these days. If you dont have one get one now from your CDO.

Hello, I had the same problem. Ask the ward chairman state who you are, who your parents are and everything....and have it traslated in Kanun Kitab Kampany in Babar Mahal , kathmandu. Ask some of your relatives back home to maile it to you, and give it to INS. They accept it. Hope it works for you too.

Dear Immigrant: Yes Royal Nepal embassy gives birth certificates. The proof.... I just obtained one from them for the immigration purpose. They just need copy of Passport and citizenship and $ 15 fee, thats all . If you do not believe me go to the webside of Royal nepalese embassy, DC and look under "consular services". They clearly mentioned there what you need to submit and how you can get the birth certificates. Good luck

BIRTH CERTIFICATE Available. Reporting of births is voluntary, and records are not standardized. The best available evidence is a typewritten or handwritten letter with rubber seal issued by the secretary of a Village Development Committee (VDC) or mayor of a town where the applicant was born. If the child is born in a hospital, a hospital birth certificate can be issued upon request, but this document usually only records the date of birth, sex of the child, and the names of the child's parents; the name of the child may not be included.
