I can't understand why no one has even made a mention of this man in the bulletin board or in any Nepali media. He is the first Nepali to represent his country in Nepal (ok, so he lives in Britain, but he still carried the Nepali flag), and not so much as a peep out of us Nepalese. I, myself, and my American wife, were moved by his display of the flag and national costume while parading, the lone Nepali, in the amazing opening ceremonies. Hey, guys, wake up and show some support for our fellow citizens, no matter where in the world they may reside!

And I suppose it was his British father who was with him wearing a Nepali cap. A better Nepali by heart than we Nepai citizens are, what do you think? The moment Nepali flag waved first time in the history of Winter Olympics was great.

Hi Nepali_soldier: It is now extremely difficult to see that moment again, unless someone puts some audio-visual on the net. We watched it live. You may find some information about this player following the link to Athelete/Nation section at: http://www.nbcolympics.com/ Please follow the link given by anepali (above) to know more about ski in Nepal and Jayram and his father.

Just for your info, Jay is in the nordic skiing (what is also referred to as cross country skiing) events. This weekend, they held the combined nordic events, which he was not in. Combined is ski jumping and nordic. But check the daily listings of when they will be having nordic skiing. Think it is later this week. Also I am sure somewhere you must be able to see a replay of the opening ceremonies in Salt Lake later on the telly. I watched the nordic skiing on tv this weekend, and, man, it is definitely one of the toughest of the winter olymic sports. More power to him! Also, they have listings each day in the paper (I saw this yesterday in the New York Times) of the contenders in each event and their standing.

More details. You can go to the saltlake2002.com website. They have detailed info there. I was mistaken. His sport is listed under cross-country. So go the bios. They have a detailed bio of Jay. He was born in Bansbari i n1972 and lives in France, not Britain, where he trains. But he was adopted by British parents, thus the British connection. Apparently he wanted to be a downhill skiier but was injured so started training for cross country or nordic. If you see biathlon, don't be confused. That sport combines nordic or crosscountry skiing with shooting, a really unusual sport. Anyway, there is a detailed bio of Jay on the website.

Prem AMEN TO that! Maybe after blasting all the Nepalese who live/born outside of Nepal, people can hardly even find the guts to praise this person!

Amen to that, too, bro! NO one even bothered to take notice. What did I tell you? One even said he probably (sic) fell asleep and missed the competition. The competition hs is in is today and Saturday, by the way. Don't know if they will show it on NBC tonight, though. It is not a "hot" sport, so to speak.

If Khadka could be first person to sketch Nepal's map in winter olympics, why could not there be some before that? Because there are many who could spend money, and also are in cold countries having enough sky resorts? Is it the lack of Duel citizenship, that is not helping our exNepalis to take leadership, and the dual citizenship they needed is to carry electronic goods in foreign passports and stay in Nepal using Nepali passports? I do not see anything more contribution from our expatriate Nepali bandush who make fuss on Dual Citizenships. Come and show what contribution you "duel Citizenship propagandoists" have made? They are now jealous over Khadka's success. The "DC" propagandoists say that they contributed a lot during Bahudal Lyau andolan, I don't think the Bahudal came in Nepal because this BS press reports, but, its becasue of the young peoples who sacrificed their life in front Narayanhiti Palace. Don't pretend great, and we need to see your contribution other than illegally carrying Camcorder or DVD players .. ( I remember one PH.D. Dr. Sharma making hue and cry over the difficulties for passing his camcorder wihout paying custome via TIA custome office a quite number of years back. He published his hue and cry and he told how successfully he passed his camcorder. He is now one of the dual citizenship campaigner. Shame on you peoples. His article was published on TND).
