Not a prediction, just thinking out loud... don't you wish 2 individuals could share an Oscar? I'd like to see both Russel Crowe and Sean Penn win.

I watched Training Day, was it really an Oscar Performance caliber? I was surprised to see both Eathan Hawke and Denzel on the list. Wonder if they are filling the African American catagory? SMsainju ji It will be very surprising if Denzel wins, after all these years.

While I admit that "A Beautiful Mind" will probably get the Oscar this year for the best picture, the movie, in a lot of ways, does injustice to a whole lot of people suffering from schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is a downward struggle 99.9% of the time. People with schizo get progressively worse until they are completely unable to perform daily physical tasks. 50% of those with schizo die/commit suicide; of the remainder, almost the whole 50% have to be institutionalized or have to be taken care of by someone else. The movie depicts one of those rare 0.1% that might, just might get better. Of course, the nature of hollywood, and the world in general, is to glorify the success stories. But, in this case, this success story makes it seem to the general population that schizo can be really overcome if you just "tried". That by "ignoring the ghosts" you can really do better. In the end, the movie almost says: look at this genius of a man; you with schizo are not really trying hard enough. I really hope that this is NOT the message that is got! But, Russell Crowe performs superbly, so my Best Actor vote to him as well!

Russell Crowe is great in the movie. I do support the idea of glorifying a rare success story. And why not? If it were not for hope, the world would be a far hellish place to live in but the movie that impressed me most this season is Black Hawk Down. Never been a great fan of American interventionist foreign policy, but we are not talking about merits and demerits of official policies here. The movie is superbly made.

Yep, my Oscar for Best Director goes to... Ridley Scott of BLACK HAWK DOWN. Anyone interested in military arsenal and the workings of the elite Amiercan commandos, it's a must-see.

David lynch deffinately for dir. But Iknow he won't get it. Probably Altman, Scott, or Howard will get it(more mainstream). For actor, Sean Penn fo real man, he the man. Would have chosen Crowe if it hadn't been for his Oscar Antics last year.

hey you moran, don't bring this kind of pathetic pop culture here. if you had spent the same amount of time on studying than spending on writing that meaningless garbage, yu would have learned something good for yourself. but then you must be the one who would appreciate ignorant hollywood "stars" then you would to someone like mother Teresa. You would spend great deal of time knowing about Denzil washington than you would spend trying to know about what's going on in Africa. I can say a lot about these kind of issue but I won't. As far as the prediction goes, my prediction is that there is gonna be an earthquake in Hollywood and all the so called "celebreties" will be under the rubble of kodak theater.

Results are in: DIRECTING A BEAUTIFUL MIND Ron Howard ACTOR -- LEADING Denzel Washington TRAINING DAY ACTOR -- SUPPORTING Jim Broadbent IRIS ACTRESS -- LEADING Halle Berry MONSTERS BALL FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM NO MAN'S LAND Bosnia & Herzegovina Directed by Danis Tanovic WRITING (ADAPTED) A BEAUTIFUL MIND Written by Akiva Goldsman WRITING (ORIGINAL) GOSFORD PARK Written by Julian Fellowes It's been fun making most of those wrong predictions :-) But hey that's life. BTW, here is a site that tells you a little bit more about Nash Equilibrium, an idea -- used all the time by academic economists -- and originally developed by mathematician John Nash, on whose life the movie "A beautiful mind" is based. http://www.hss.caltech.edu/gambit/ver96/guiman/guiman77.html Enjoy, oohi ashu ktm, nepal

Halle Berry kept thanking her husband in India when accepting the award last night. Is her husband in India or did I hear it differently? She was so emotional…at first I thought she was just utilizing her acting skills but realized later after hearing about her becoming the first African-American to ever win Best Actress. I guess it happens when you are making a history... -PS

I got the news today in the paper - Driving throgh the interstate while Oscar Gala was going on. But boy am I glad to see her name as the best actress. Halle Berry! You go girl! (but, tell me again, "who" were you wearing? As the right wing shit digger turned the reform Epitome of Conscience, David Brock said, "a little bit nutty and a little bit slutty" about Anita Hill, your outfit did reminded me of that)

I had 9/25 guesses/predictions right. I was on a roll at the begining but didn't fare quite well. I had predicted for Halle Berry's win but didn't guess Denzel would win. After playing as Malcom X, The Hurricane, Steven Beiko and some other real life characters, I was even surprised he was nominated for Training Days (I did like the movie) and won the Oscar. I felt strange, wonder if he felt strange. I always felt an Oscar for Denzel was due and I am glad he got it this year, but would have been nice if he had gotten it for other roles he played.
