why do some of you nepalis still act like u r still in the 1700's??? common people we cant tolerate baun-gurung, gurung-magar shit no more.
insted of reconizing each other as bauns and sarkis we should just be reconizing each other simply as "NEPALESE". I THOUGHT YOU PEOPLE IN FOREIGN LAND ARE EDUCATED AND WELL DISIPLINED BUT YOU STILL COME UP WITH RACIST REMARKS. WHATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BAUNS AND GURUNGS??? OR BHOTES FOR THIS MATTER??
ARNT GURUNG HUMANS?? ARENT THEY NEPALIS??? INFACT LOOK ST SHERPAS THEY RAE ONE OF THE MOST RESPECTED ETHNIC GROUPS OF NEPAL TO THE OUTSIDE WROLD BUT IN NEPAL THEY ARE TREATED LIKE DOGS..IS THIS FAIR??
IF SHERPAS TREAT BAUNS, CHETRIES LIKE DOGS, WOULD YOU LIKE IT???
TELL ME WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS 1700'S SHIT THAT STILL GOES ON IN NEPALESE SOCIETY??????

This is the serious issue that you have post here. I always think that people post many many topics regarding different issues but I was wondering why people don,t talk about terrible caste system in nepal eventhough it is one of the serious problems in Nepal. I hope people will write about it.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the caste sysytem of Nepal. Infact, that is what makes us unique. It merely divides different types of groups. Isn't that beautiful?
It is hard to change people. Infact, it is hard to change ourselves. So if you keep your mind and heart open to everyone, you will not see any difference. We see people with our bias filled mind. And in turn their action seems to us that those people are degrading us because of our caste or whatever it is.
Don't you already have bias about bahuns, chettri, newar, gurung?
When I was young I heard people talk about how bhotes are dirty. (Bhhotes are a type of ethic group, so i don't think there is anything wrong with using this word) Coz these people were talking about sherpas from Sholukumbu where you can't clean your ass because of the cold weather. So, they assumed that all bhotes don't clean their ass. [This is my assumption] I am sure they have other means of cleaning their ass other than water. But, you know in Nepal water is the main source of cleaning your tooto. Is this true? I don't think so. So keep your heart and mind clean and everything else will be fine.
There is no use complaning about why some people belittle others! These people are lost meaning that they need to let go their ego. This will too happen just watch and see. In the mean time, see yourself in everyone. They are neither higher nor lesser than you.

I have been to newar's party, bahun's party, oriental party.. then they tries to make fun of each other.. one bahun's party, one guy was talkin' about his g/f stuffs and his wife was say, was she Tamang, gurung, magar in a stereotypical way. They think they are the best.., if you look at the number of bramin in Nepali community is way higher. And there comes newar's party, they don't like bramin at all they talk about bad thing about bramin.. and try to show off they are the best.. but their population is marginally smallar than bramin. And there comes orientals (s(herpa, t(amang, m(agar, g(urung, r(ai, l(imbu ) who always think bramins are the most corrupt people in Nepal they are the one who ruin the integrity of the country, while Newar is the most selfish people in Nepal. While all the orientals are easy going, honest people. And then comes among orientals, Gurung things they are better than other, rai things they are better than other.. There is point here to make, majority rules.. in general bramins are well educated and after that newars.. so there is always some sort of ego problem among them and things one is better than other..(only god knows which is the best), then come other oriental group.. like gurung and some what rai, seems to be little exposed to world and few of them are well educated and finds them far behind bahun and Newars. And also they are way lesser in number too. And when feel humilated when bahun and newars talk about their ethnic back ground. Then comes magars, whose last name resemble with chhetri and who are educated even bother himself identify as a magar. Much of the magars live in villages and and struggling to get in this main stream culture. Every community have good people and bad people. Many great people are from bahun and Newar and chhetri and so from Magar, gurung and other community. People talks about bahun, Newar because they pretty much rule the country, just like here people talk about white and black. So this ethincity and identity problem will never go away until one community think they are superior than other community.

Regardless of where you go you are going to face this obstacle one way or the other. You may not be aware of it. People descriminate all the time. Why only Beautiful people become models ? that is one form. Look at the animal kingdom, why do we treat certain animals with more love than the other ? Why do parents favor their younger children and the older ones... We can go on and on. Even among the diff racial backgrounds people descriminate against each other. Like Among Blacks the light colours don't get along with the dark coloured ones. THese are the things we identify ourselves with. Newars, Bahuns, chetri's gurungs etc etc . Same with the religions, political, social etc groups. People go to war just because they cannot stand them. At times in life you have to swallow that pride and deal with reality in a friendly manner. iTS IN OUR NATURE REGARDLESS OF HOW WE NURTURE IT IT WILL ALWAYS BE THERE.
