These provisions are expected to take effect on July 1, 2002 and the full texts may be viewed at the Citizenship and Immigration Canada web site www.cic.gc.ca.
International students, "in good academic standing" will be allowed to work off campus, after completing two terms of full time studies.
This employment will be limited to 20 hours per week, during the Fall and Winter semesters, and can be full time during the Summer.
Students wishing to work off campus will have to apply for "Work Permit", which will be granted for one year and will have to be renewed every year.
This regulation is subject to changs. It will also require some cooperation from the educational instutions, and agreement in defining terms such as "registration status" and "in good standing".
