Army guns down 76 Maoists, 67 of Achham attack
KOL Report
KATHMANDU, Feb 25 – A total 76 more Maoists have been shot down by Royal Nepal Army (RNA) personnel, out of which 67 are in different places of Kalikot district alone - where the Defence Ministry claims more encounters took place between soldiers on “blocking positions” and terrorists fleeing from Achham district. RNA had suffered a major setback in Achham where around 55 soldiers were mowed down by the terrorists last week.
The army has been maintaining that they have been consolidating their positions around the major border points of Achham district so as to limit the movement of armed Maoists who are said to have looted a large quantity of sophisticated weapons. The revelation was earlier made by military sources to Kantipur Online.
According to the Defence Ministry statement issued on Monday, the army has also seized various arms, socket bombs, equipment used to lay electrical ambushes, communication sets as well as a large quantity of foodstuff from the Maoists in the encounter sites. Earlier, the Defense Ministry had claimed that the army had shot dead 46 terrorists around the area a few days ago.
Likewise, four Maoists were killed in Kumble River area of Kaski district during the army’s search operation. Similarly, three more terrorists were killed in Krishnapur area of Kanchenpur district and two more in Fattepur area of Banke district. (sjs)

I agree with digital maniac.....we have to exterminate these Maoists. They are nothing but parasites. All they know how to kill civilians and security personnel in the most barbaric way and spread hate. Why just kill the leaders as one of the respondents suggests, after all everyone knows killing another person is not the right thing so they are as guilty as the corrupt Maoist leaders who have inspired them to commit these unspeakable crime. One also notices that the Maoists are so happy when security personnel are butchered but when their own people starts getting killed, they say they are innocent people. Yeah.....tell me they are innocent people....... carrying guns with an intent to kill.

Where were your comments when Maoist attacked the army post first? Where were your comments when the Maoist burned the civilians including a child alive?
Or when they were destroying the infrastructure like repeatator stations? Or attacking airports? Hydro projects?

I agree killing is not solution. But the killers should be exterminated.
I think in criminal terminology, they say a criminal is likely to suffer from recidivism.
He will commit crime again and again. Those who killed the wife of tax officers,
those who shot unarmed ,subdued, and surrendering police, and those who
laughed aloud while an eight-years old girl was burning alive, what should army do
when it confronts them?
However, army should not kill any innocent civilians. There are so many people in
Nepal, who are innocent and who are so easily exploited. Imagine those people
from villages of Karnali, they were Panche when we had panchayat, became
congress when congress raj was in peak, then became UML supporter in last
election, and now are Maoists. I would believe most of them are nothing.Devoid of
ideological motivation. Misled and clueless. They are our brethren in ignorance,
and army should do everything to avoid killing them. Police killed them in Kilo-Shera-2, thanks to Achyut Kharel's crazy policy, and we are still paying for that.
I am confident RNA is doing better job. Actually, I am 95% certain army hasn't
killed any innocent civilian yet.

Mr. 100% Nepali, if the people were defending themselves, they should have died if their villages trying to save what they have not in jugles in an armed batch of 40 or 50. Launching a massive attack, donning military's stolen uniforms and then attacking police station is anything but. How can you claim that attacking district hedquarters, looting money from banks and preventing people (civlians) from traveling be called defending themselves. I am pretty sure that the army has got it right this time. Talking about innocent people being killed, what about murders of countless teachers.....in the most primitive way...just because they did not follow maoist guideline. Is that defending yourself? Putting up bomb and explosives in public places....is that defending yourself. You may be right...killing is not the solution, but Maoists have left the government with no other alternative. It is upto the Maoists to undo what they have done. They should come to the negotiating table only after giving up their weapons first. Otherwise the whole fiasco of last year will repeat itself.

out of 50+ army personnel killed, captain bohara was known to me. he was 29, very gentle young guy whom we always asked to "grow up". he is now dead. he was hacked into pieces and put in a sleeping bag. i understand war - people die in it. tell me what justifies butchering into pieces ? if you think its wrong to kill maoist, then you obviously do not have any idea what you are talking about. they are not human, they are beast and needs to be eradicated.

I will say again and again ... tell me Mr. Maoist ... how many corrupt politicians has maoist killed over the last 6 years. The top "corruptors" in the country still live and enjoy their amenities... meanwhile Maoists have killed thousands of innocent people, teachers, police men, doctors, nurses, engineers, ....
What the maoist want is to RULE .... they don't care if they rule a completely destroyed country ... they want to rule ... if you guys think that Maoists leadership are fighting for "people" .... ha ...
