I have learnt that people like yourself -- who post stuff (long or short, in your own name or in some other name) -- are the MOST VALUABLE assets that any interactive kurakani Web forum, including this site, can have.

Without MANY consistently good posters who provide fresh, innovative,
engaging, amusing, provocative, insightful and entertaining postings on
a regular basis, there can be NO interactive Web forum for a long time.

If you have a few good posters, then, you can attract even better
posters, and the whole things, after a while, just snowballs into
something bigger and better from there on. This has been my
exerience here on this site.

So, to answer your question: In theory, it is possible to provide a stiff
competition to sajha.com and lure its good posters to post stuff
elsewhere.

In practice, that can be difficult, for the 'switching expenses' may be high for
most people. Still, is IS possible to lure people away from this site.

That saidl, as a regular sajha, com visitor, and as someone who has seen Web communities rise and fall, I do NOT believe in being self-satsified and
complacent about the whatever success this site has achieved so far.

Relentless and continuous improvements on ALL fronts posting must go on, all the time, by all of us who care about this site.

aashu

I have nothing bad to say about this site. I chek in quite often reading and posting under topics of my interests. I remember the days when sukulgunda and nepalsearch were hot..so my thinking is why did they sink..finance?? lack of interesting discussions??? etc..My question is very simple why they sunk and what admin or some fans of this site can do so that this site stays afloat..

keep it rollin..

Gunda,

Yes, somebody from Nepal paid a lot of money in late 1999 to Kunga, the originator of nepalsearch.com, and that new owner, by most accounts,
ended up messing up that once-very-popular site.

That said, this site seems driven primarily by kura-kani ko contents.
And kura-kani ko contents here are driven by posters themselves.
Voluntarily, mind you.

This is all fine and good up to a point, but this totally free model is
ultimately NOT sustainable.

One way this site could go forward may be: going the
nepalhomepage.com way.

That site, for example, started as a hobby at Dartmouth;
later the owner of that site teamed up with other first-rate people
who came in with business sense and all that, and they all ended up
having a Web company in Nepal, and that company now does a lot
of things, but its flagship product remains nepalhomepage.com

That is one model worth emulating; there could be others.
