The paper edition (March 1st) of The Nepali Times has a glowing/gushing/congratulatory report on ServingMinds -- a Thamel-based Call Center, where employees are trained to put on a NorthWestern accent and chat about Arizona with prospective callers from the US. This is all fine and good. But an odd detail that did NOT make it into the report is the fact that the CEO of ServingMind -- whom The Nepali Times quotes approvingly -- is also one of the five investors behind The Nepali Times. Hmmm . . . Aside: Whenever TIME magazine, for instance, reports on AOL's business strategy, it reminds -- as a matter of straightforward ethics -- its readers that the magazine is in fact owned by AOL. Is it too much to ask the editors of NT to also follow similar full-disclosure policy? As a fan and a supporter of NT, I hope not. oohi ashu ktm, nepal

Interesting. In this early stage of Nepali journalism, sometimes, it is necessary to tell some of our respected journalists about 'conflict of interest', and ,of course, plagiarization! Great job informing us Ashu. One more reason for us hahooligans to visit Sajha.com .

out of context.. any body has anything to say about the future of call service center in Nepal. Do you think our local graduates with thick Nepali Accents can cater to global especially extremely picky American customer base?? Would like to hear comments on that if any.. bkj

I don't have any problem with these overseas call centers, as long as they do not lie to callers or evade when asked where they are based. Unfortunately, these seems to be hallmarks of such ventures.
