Gajendra Narayan Singh and His Sadvabana party never refuted the label of 'Pro-Indian Sadvabana Party' that Indian newspapers generally give them. Even though acknowledging existence of somewhat descriminatory and communal feeling towards 'Terai Basi' in KTM, I often find his agitation non-nationalist and serving only Indian purpose. Here is what I read about his comments in one Indian newspaper:(link given below:) "Singh alleged that after recent victimisation and inhuman treatment to madhesias in hilly areas, particularly in Kathmandu, the Nepal government continued to be a silent spectator.During recent anti-India agitation in hilly areas of Nepal to protest concocted remarks of an Indian film star Hrithik Roshan ,Gorkhalis had not only looted and damaged the property of Madhesias in Kathmandu but also misbehaved with women members of the community. Not only that, they also had set ablaze the national office of the NSP in Kathmandu. Madhesias had been made targets in Nepal by the supporters of Nepali Congress, United communist party-ML, and other political parties dominated by Gorkhalis, Singh alleged and threatened to intensify agitation if the Nepal government failed to constitute judicial enquiry into all these incidents." Taken from: http://www.timesofindia.com/today/14mpat1.htm I feel very distasteful the following sentence: "Gorkhalis had not only looted and damaged the property of Madhesias in Kathmandu but also misbehaved with women members of the community." And, who is Gorkhali by the way?

>> Nothing wrong in speaking to defend one's right under the constitution but the foundation of his speeches are based on communal ideas. I have hard time in beleiving that he is a mainstream (in terms of Nepal as a whole)politician. I myself protest second class citizen treatment to the Madesh born nepalis but what GN singh and his other close associates are doing in the name of Sadhbhavana is nothing more than exploiting the sentiment of innocent nepalis in madesh for their political strength and power sharing. Quite a few times, I thought about the so called problem in Madhesh. After all ,what is descrimination? Do we have the constitution that says certain posts are not entitled to Madhise? Do we have the constitution that says Nepalese born in Hill are more eligible for holding civil posts? Do we have any school that says no Madhises are allowed admission? Is there any statutory descrimination? The answer, you know Sparsha, is not. Still,as you and I and almost everybody here acknowledge that there is kind of slight against those people, but that is personal. The state has done everything for the Madhise community. In technical schools of Nepal, Madhises are in the same number as that of other community. Those who worked hard in their field are respected, be it Mahendra Narayan Nidhi, or Bhawani Bhikshu or untold other our collegues who were in SLC board or ISC board! The Madhise community should understand that it is India that has been harsh towards them. Who had made dam in Bihar so that tens of (madhise) villages of Rautahat and Sarlahi etc districts are inundated in fall? Who had made dam in UP so that Madhise of Bake district are inundated in fall? The answer ,obviously ,is India. Now , If Sadvabana and our madhise community think that India is really evincing goodwill towards them, then they are wrong. India is just playing one Nepalese community against others. So, I agree with you totally,Sparsha, that these people in Sadvabana are just protesting for political benefit. Gajendra Narayan Singh always enjoyed being in power, and politics, like one Indian politician once said 'Naam Ho, Badnaam Ho, Gumnaam Naho'(be famous, be notorious, but don't be vanished), he is trying to tell us that he is still there, being an emblem of Indian hand in Nepalese politics. How he dared to say that 'protesters' also misbehaved with women members of the (madhise) community.
