Hi all, Do any of you know any Nepali graduates of the University of Peking(nicknamed "bay-da") who are currently in Kathmandu or are reachable via email . . . and who one can get in touch with to find out more about that university? I also request even Chinese or Chinese-American friends who can share info about undergrad (and NOT graduate) admissions at "bay-da" to send me an email. oohi ashu ktm, nepal

ashu dai, I don't think I know any nepali studednts at Bei-da (and I don't think there are any!). Arniko samaj people are, to use your own terminology "jhoor and khattam" so, we can't expect anything from them. I think the best way to go about this is to contact the Chinese Embassy people in town. They can be of help. To all, Bei-Da is one of the most reputed universities of Asia! So, if you are thinking of continuing your studies, then do apply. Who knows you might just get in. Trailokya

Ashu, I don't think there are any Nepali bei da graduate. I tried to build a china graduated Nepali database. I spent a good amount of time to find people. With more than few hundred names collected, there was no one from bei da. But if you want to contact somebody, who is half way decent enough to answer from Arniko Samaj, email me and I can give you the e-mail address. But I can also ask some of chinese friends here in US who may be willing to give some information. Hope this helps.

In 1999, I met this guy , Mr Malla (I forgot his name), of Beida. He was a student of political science or something like that. He was brother of his more well-known sibling: Suresh Malla, MP from Nepali Congress. I don't know his current email address or occupation.

What will be the Sino-US relatiosn during his tenure and what about relations with neighboriong countries? Will he be brave enough to get rid off the radicals in the CCP? let's get the discussion rolling.. Trailokya.. Xin Nian hao! Plus, if you guys (biswoji and da ge) happen to know of nepalis who studied in nanjing University, please let me know. I am seriously considering two of my close would-be relatives there to study. Your help will be highly appreciated.

TA ji Yep, Da Ge supposed to mean big brother. I just thougt it will be something different and very few people would understand. If they can, there will be something common. FYI, I went to Nanjing Shifan Daxue in Nanjing for a year more than ten years ago which is very close to Nan Da. Nan Da is another prestigious university in China. It supposed to have very well known for Computer Science (at least that's what I was told when I was there). Nanjing is a beautiful and historic city. I differs a lot from Beijing since Nanjing you shan you shui, fengjing mei ji le. Let me know what kind of info you like. I work with a Nan da graduate here in US. Only problem with Nanjing is its weather. It gets pretty cold in winter and very hot summer. It is also known as 3 hot stoves of China. I remember walking in the street in begining of july feeling the road underneath melted. It was one of the weirdest feeling I ever had. Da Ge.

I was in Nanjing in 1994. I don't think any Nepali ever went to Nanjing University. I have heard there used to be a student long ago, may be in '80s! Latest ranking of Chinese University puts Nanjing University among top three Chinese universities. The only person I remember from Huadong Shifan Daxue was Trailokya Aryal. Am I wrong? Oh, I guess there was this one guy in Huashida in 1999. But despite the nominal distance between my school and Huashida, I never met him. One more note: if someone is going to Nanjing University or Beijing University, make sure his Chinese is really good. Otherwise, competing with those students is really difficult. However, if he/she competes well, the reward is awesome. For top five/ten students in a class, Ivy leagues schools are very plausible next step for graduate study.

Hi all, Many thanks for the info. This has been quite helpful. Last night, a friend suggested a few more names (all China graduates) to contact in Kathmandu to find out more about Bei-Da, which, by all accounts, is China ko Oxford. I will also pursue the lead provided by Biswo. I am looking info regarding undergraduate admissions for someone I tutor in Kathmandu, and NOT for myself per se. Trailokya, you know quite well that I still have to master Chinese -- the language spoken by 1.5 billion people -- which might take the two more years. oohi "I am posting all this here to encourage all inerested Nepalis to master Chinese for personal and Nepal ko bikas for China will be a very influential country to look out for on the world stage by 2010, if not sooner" ashu ktm, nepal
