I am really disappointed to see a Nepali who is asking how to avoid custom clearance for a gift (worths $ 2000) he bought for someone. Are all Nepalese thinking like him or is it just a special case....?? At least I am more than happy to pay tax in TIA custom whenever I go Nepal, does not matter if it is 10 rupees or more. I feel it is my civic duty. eventhough I never talk much about DESH BANAUNE KURA...DESHKO MAYA.....etc..etc

I feel guilty that I can not do anything to my country eventhough I want to do alot. But by paying at least some tax at TIA I feel a little bit relief. Can this guy
feel good if he realize what is he asking......If I were at his place certainly not.

perhaps the amount of duty as a percentage of the purchase price is leading this person and others to question nepal's import tariff restrictions? customs import duties in nepal are, i hear, highly restrictive for non-MPs and have no clearly articulated purpose. what gets done with all that income, anyway?
