Have you ever felt that coming to US was a huge mistake that you made in life? When I was back home, I used to imagine life in US as being very easy and nice. But ....the reality was different. Nothings the same here then the way I imagined it to be. Why do we have such a false belief about life in US?

You know what! There are times when I feel the same thing too. It's mostly when I miss my friends and family, but I don't really know if coming here was a big mistake or not, 'cause if I was back in Nepal and was given a choice to come here, I'd still opt to come here and I'd still miss being in Nepal. I guess it's a no win situation now. Damned if you do, damned if you don't!.. It's not that my life here sucks, but if my childhood friends and families were here too, I am sure I'd have not have felt it was a mistake at all.

I don't think, life here in US is suck and I don't want to take coming US as a mistake. I think, America is full of opportunity and spiirit. Being busy for studies, works, whatever, does not make life suck. Since, you feel that way, why don't you pack ur packages and go back to home? I don't think any body is forcing u to stay here. But, writing flaws message in well known (among nepali people) nepali site, do not make you feel good. You have to think about others, who still wanna come to US and inventure their life and success. Moreover, you have to consider the life you having here in US too. For example, all the laxuries you have here is impossible in back home. look at the car you riding, cellphone you carrying, laptap (computer) you using, the dollars you earning, etc. which are still most likely unthinkable in back home (for everybody).I do agree that, missing families, friends, lovers (what we had before,) is unbearable... So, dude, think twice before you write something. Otherwise, you have to mention both pros and cons, if you wanna really convince someone. you just can't say life in America is such on your on personal experience. You have to states all the statement which is universal. By the way, when u going back let me know, i have to send some dollars which is so valuealbe.

Dear Seema Whatever you wrote is absolutely fine....but I guess you didn't read me properly...I din't say i hate being here or want to go back..I said that life here is so different then what we imagine and come. Things here are certainly much more better then in Nepal..and although all our families and friends and people whom we know so well are back home, we still struggle a lot and stay here. Everyday in US is like a challenge...and inspite of beinmg all alone we face it and are living with it. Hats off to all those nepali students who come here and study so hard and work to achieve what staying in Nepal couldn't have provided them. That's what I meant. If you felt I was saying that America is like a hell let's go back..then yotu are wrong. I like being here and I fully support nepali students to keep trying to come here and make nepal proud of us. X, My answer to your question is a resounding "YES!" Life in America sucks so hard that it is breaking the laws of gravity that used to tie people to their birthplace. The proof? People from every corner of the globe are finding themselves unable to resist this country's gravitational pull.

Life is like ... a toss of the coin. When that coin lands, one face will always be dark. And there’s no such thing as a coin with only one face. So, yes, life in the US “sucks.” And also, it doesn’t. For the exact same reasons it DOES suck. Life in Nepal sucks, too. And it doesn’t suck. For some of the same reasons that it DOES suck. What I mean is this: One of the (many) great things about the US is the independence and freedom it gives people–independence from family pressures, freedom to pursue one’s own dreams, etc. But as a result, there’s also a lot of stress from loneliness, alienation, the demands of a high-paced money-obsessed lifestyle, and so on. In other words, some of the greatest things about America are connected to its worst things, and these are the areas where it is failing its people. Who can live here and not see the things that "suck"??? Then there's Nepal. One of the (many) great things about Nepal and its culture is its family connectedness, the more casual and human-oriented pace of life, and so on. But that kind of culture also tends to generate destructive habits on both the national and personal level, from cronyism to gossip and backbiting. In other words, some of the great things about Nepal are also connected--like two faces of a coin, or a Siamese twin--to its worst things. And that's where it is failing its people. When you’re looking at any coin from a distance, all you can see is the one side. Hence, people romanticize life in Nepal when they’re in the US, seeing only the beauties of its slow-paced, human-oriented culture. And they romanticize life in the US when they're in the Nepal, seeing only the opportunities and freedoms. But when you’re actually in Nepal or the US, you see both faces. And that can be very, very frustrating. After all, the only place a coin can exist without two interconnected faces–a dark and a light, a positive and a negative--is a place beyond space and time. So I guess the best we can do is pick the coin we prefer (if we're lucky enough to have a choice), be honest about what lies on its dark side, and appreciate the places where that coin truly shines.

Only thing I miss in US is my care takers . This place is like heaven for me if ever I could bring someone form Nepal who cooks, washes, cleans, irons and take care of my kids etc etc. What I am trying to say is you can't have $s and services at the same time. My aim here is to gather $s and eventually after some time go back and get service out of it. How do buy this IDEA. By the way I know there are lot of frustration with jobs and stock market. If you have survived till now, there are not lot more days left to see the things getting better ... specially economically. What's your thought !!!

If you think life in the US SUCKS, come to Canada, because life here ROCKS! First, Blue and Molson beat Budweiser and Coors hands down. Second, it's cold here, so you automatically have an excuse to cozy up with someone. Third, it's cheap here. Food, housing, cars, you name it. Fourth, prostitution is legal... well, somewhat... they call it "Escort Service." Fifth, Canadians are more friendly, you just have to put up with their "Eh!" on every sentence they utter. Sixth, drinking age here is 19, you can go ape-shit even if you are considered underage in the US. ... there are more, you just have to be here. It's awesome, dudes & dudettes, c'mon over and join us.

Windsor dude, You sure qualify as one true Nepali in canada - thats the attitude you live with. This is not by any means a publicity about canada but just to let you all know, there is life across the border too and to add to the list.... seventh, Immigration is ... what should i say ... faster and easier!!!!! eighth, you get tax returns for rent, sales and province, which could add to some savings. ninth, It's legal for woman to walk around topless - really it is,at least in ontario? well ofcourse you dont see them flashing everywhere left and right!!!!! thenth, definately there are tons of cons too as you would expect in every country but overalll ------------ It sure does ROCK!!!!!! Its friday cant wait to get out of here and chill ---- HAPPY FRIDAY TO YOU ALL!!!!

My take on this is that most of us are exposed to the best propoganda in the world "The US lifestyle" back home. Thinking of fast cars, beautiful babes (male point of view, remember those bay watch babes), opportunity, easy money but inreality we all know now thats the US we know back home is not the same, once we start our new life here. We soon forget about those fast cars, beautiful babes, the easy money, opportunity, we start to flip burgers or work for some blood sucking dhoties or if u are lucky get some job on campus in the computer lab or elsewhere. But one imp. thing about USA in my point of view: As long as you work hard, and willing to go extra mile you will be successful no matter what. Yes the grass is always green on the other side. What if you are living in a desert. Then again I am Mildly Retarded Kancha. >Have you ever felt that coming to US was a >huge mistake that you made in life? >When I was back home, I used to imagine life >in US as being very easy and nice. NK, thank you dahling. Let's write a book. "Philosophy of Sajha." How many pages do you think it would have? And Windsor, hey, I wanna be Canadian too. Really. Canadians don't get kidnapped, they're not blamed for all the ills in the world, they get all the advantages of an American-style lifestyle without the disadvantage of being associated with The Great Satan ... On second thought, maybe it's better to be Australian. Nobody hates you for being from Australia. Except there are funnel web spiders there. So which shall it be? Funnel web spiders (Australia) or cold winters (Canada)? On third thought, there's also New Zealand. No funnel webs. No cold winters. No one calling their country the Great Satan. So hey. Forget the USA. I'm gonna be a Kiwi.

Bill Clinton or George Bush didn't call you and asked to come to the United States. So whatever reasons you have come here for, just carry on with that. Complaining of your life in some foreign land doesn't make u happy. If you really feel life in USA sucks then go back to Nepal right now, we don't need lazy ass who always complain. Because of your lousiness u get fired off the job, fail your school and disrupt the people around, we don't need such an unhealthy friend in this country. We need real people who finish their business without complaints make every nepali proud..........so stop complaining otherwise someone will call INS soon to take care of you........alright?
