As the denoument of NC jaatraa in Pokhara is becoming evident,
we are forced to see the jarring pattern of prejudice inside the
Grand Old Party of Nepal against particular sections of community.
That 10 out of 18 elected members are from Brahman Community is
the matter of serious concern.

While I believe that those elected are the most influential
leaders of NC, and thus electable, I also believe that the party
should discard the traits of nepotism in the party rightnow to
let the wide representation of various community be possible in
the governing body of the party in future. It is time for the
oldest (functioning) party to bring in leaders from various
communities in the nation to play important role inside the party.
It is time for leadership to cultivate its root in diverse section
of population.

We must understand that while such 'unwitting' (sic)
descrimination are not likely to stir the outrage rightnow, these
results can be used by communal forces(Sadvabana can use this,
for example) to fan bigotry in the nation. Unless the political
forces in the nation becomes vigilant against such trend, future
of now-somewhat-communally-integrated nation remains precarious.

Another question that lingered in our mind from Pokhara
convention is ,of course, the expenditure incurred in displaying
the pomp and circumstances of the 'Udghatan' ceremony. NC and
other national parties keep undocumented treasury, it is well
known, but such extravaganza in impoverished nation is
unconscionable,and particularly obnoxious when neighboring
districts of Pokhara are the one considered inaccessible and
underdeveloped in a lot of aspects.

While the convention reaffirmed the faith of general Congressis
in democracy, and made them proud of their party and the slowly
transmogrifying process of consitution of their central body,it
also ended with some uneasy questions about the communal relation
in the nation. Onus is now on Girija Koirala to fill his
governing body with the members of underrepresented communities
and DON'T EVEN THINK OF INDUCTING SUJATA , LILA, NONA(+ Koirala)
IN CWC.
