Maoists ready to resume peace talks The President of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) in a press statement dated March 12 has expressed his party’s willingness to resume political dialogue with the government after calling a ceasefire, the daily Samacharpatra said. “We are ready to call a ceasefire and resume political dialogue on conditions that a positive political way out can be found,” the daily has quoted Prachanda as saying. Prachanda in the press statement has said that the formation of an interim government and the holding of elections to the Constituent Assembly are the immediate demands of his party. The Maoists had opted out of the peace talks unilaterally and had attacked the army camp in Dang compelling the government to declare a State of Emergency in the country and mobilize the army. The Maoist leadership has come forward with the proposal for dialogue nearly four months after the declaration of emergency and the loss of hundreds of lives in clashes with government forces. nepalnews.com am Mar 16

Are they serious?? Are we (the public) willing to belive?? The government could, but would we janta forgive their unscurpulous deeds? The petrol bomb that burnt to death of innocent people. I think maoists "sakh" has been blown away with the murky waters of Bagamati. What will they say, "Janata please forgive us?" or "What the hell do you think, we have grass roots who will kick your ass?" I think this is another ploy of Maoists and our Nepali politicians seem to be forgetting that. Maoists hated man Girija is now their medium. How naive can one get? I for one think the maoists should be eradicated to the minimum before any talks can be talked. What is there to talk about anyways?? hmmm....

I was hoping this would be a good discussion. Questions: 1. What are Maoists trying to do? 2. Is there a faction in Maoists? 3. What would the Maoists say to the people now? 4. Is this another deadly game they are trying to play? 5. How about the recent comments against India from GenSec of UML??
