This news hit close to my heart, but am glad to hear it. May Naveen's soul rest in peace and may the lady he left behind find some solace and closure.

Generally, I am against death penalty. But sometimes I wonder...

This news also hit very close to my heart. The wife is my school friend(back in nepal) we grew up together. I had always felt bad for her. I hope she finds some happiness now. And may his soul rest in peace.

Nakkali,You don't need to feel bad for her anymore. That was past. She is leading a very happy and fulfilling life.

People, just try to understand. I know everybody felt for the widow of that young man but, life goes on. I am happy that finally they found who the murderer was. In any case, judging by the postings of some of the posters, this great piece of news could spiral down to gossips, innuendo, sneer and much more. So let's focus on the murder, his crime, and maybe even the justice system, if you must, rather than who he left behind, who she is, where is and etc. etc.

(This is not an attack to people who were genuinely affected by the hieneous crime)

Man indicted for 1989 stabbing outside Boston cookie shop
By Associated Press, 3/15/2002 18:40

BOSTON (AP) A grand jury has indicted a convicted killer on murder charges in a 13-year-old stabbing case.

Carl Odware, 31, was indicted Friday by a Suffolk County grand jury in the Feb. 19, 1989 stabbing death of Naveen Giri outside the Mrs. Field's Cookies shop in the city's Beacon Hill neighborhood.

Giri, a clerk at the shop, was stabbed six times in the chest and back at about 8:30 p.m.

Investigators think Odware killed Giri during an attempted robbery.

Giri and his wife had moved to America from Nepal about a year before his death.

According to the office of Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley, the indictment resulted from the development of evidence over the past two years.

Conley was an assistant Suffolk prosecutor in 1989 and was part of the homicide response team that first investigated the slaying.

Odware is currently serving a life sentence in an unrelated case.

He was convicted of first degree murder, armed assault with intent to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in the Feb. 14, 1994 shooting of two men, one fatally, outside a Lynn pizzeria.

An arraignment has not yet been scheduled.

Finally they got him!
I can never explain what his mother has been thru all these years. He was the light of her life!
After all these years, I'm not even sure if I should let her know that the man has finally been convicted..........
He was a very good man. May his soul rest in peace!
