I was wondering if I could get some help determining which Nepali movies/documentaries to present to University/General Public.

Taking into consideration this would be for a Not-For-Profit event, where can I have access to these movies.

I thankyou for your help in advance.

You can show the movie by a french director, shot in Dolpo called "The Himalaya." I showed that movie in my college and people really enjoyed it.
The other one could be any documenary about Mt. Everest. "Mt.Everest" itself is a very good documentary and you can probably find it in Blockbuster.

Good Luck.

Consider "Little Budda" also...

Thankyou both for your feedback. Pradeep, where can I get hold of a copy of "Himalaya" ? Could you tip me on how much it cost you?
endless_knot Posted on 22-Mar-02 09:42 AM

The movie "Himalaya" is available at ur local Blockbuster.

Hope that helps.

Thankx ...Endless_knot,

Would I be violating any copyright laws if I presented "The Himalaya" at a Univeristy Hall, by renting a copy at Blockbuster?

The Himalaya and Little Budha are feature films. In Little Budha there's nothing to show about Nepal.

If you were trying to present about Nepal to your Unversity general audience, I think it'd be best to borrow a videocassette about Nepal from any public library. I once presented "Nepal" from Lonely Planet. It's a very good one about Nepal. If you can't find in library, you may also find in Blockbuster or buy one from Barnes Noble.

Your responses has definately given me a start. It appears like "The Himalaya" and "Lonely Planet" are the better cotendors. And again, I am thankful for your responses.

And don't forget to have a discussion at the end. You'll be amazed when you find out how many questions people are going to have about Nepal, and whatever you will be showing about the country.
Good Luck

Consider "Honey Hunters of Nepal." Its beautifully shot and a very engaging and and intense documentary.
