"Man pleads innocent to murder charge in 1989 cookie shop stabbing BOSTON - A man already serving a life sentence for murder pleaded innocent on Wednesday to stabbing a man to death outside a cookie shop 13 years ago. Carl Odware's plea in Suffolk Superior Court was on a charge of murder in the 1989 stabbing death of Naveen Giri outside the Mrs. Field's Cookies shop in the city's Beacon Hill neighborhood. He was ordered held without bail. A Suffolk grand jury indicted Odware, 31, earlier this month on the new charge. Prosecutors said they had developed new evidence in the case during the past two years. Giri, a clerk at the shop, was stabbed six times in the chest and back. Prosecutors allege Odware, who had previously worked at a different Mrs. Fields shop, killed Giri during an attempted robbery."
