I don't know whether u guys know this or not but the word "tip", like when u tip someone in a resturant, has a nepali origin. this is how the fact goes. junga bahadur was in his trip to england. since he was a VIP, he was treated to a really nice lunch by the royals of england. impressed by the taste of the food and their hospitality towrads him, junga bahadur takes out a gold coin(ashurfi) and places it on the table for the waitress that was serving him. however, the coin drops to the floor. then he says to the waitress, pointing at the gold coin, "tip", "tip". meaning "pick". thus the british attached the term "tip" to this gesture of giving something in return to the people serving u in resturants. insted of gold coins, these days "tip" refers to money.

so there u have it. for those who thought junga bhadhur did nothing for the country.

Sumanji:

I think I first read about this in Sardar Bhim Bdr Pande's famous book on Nepal's
history(I fail to remember that name now). But again the same book ridicules Nepali
people for their rumuor mongering habit. For example, the same book says that
around second world war, people in Bhaktapur were saying that Hitler was a
guy from Bhaktapur, who original name was 'Hita lal'. Jang Bahadur's famous
courting of England's beautiful girls in his 1907 tour is proverbial and mentioned in
a lot of foreign books too, so may be this rumour is more credible than that 'hita lal'
rumour!

Although Junga Bahadur might have coined the phrased "tip", his contribution to Nepal wold be much greater had he been alive now. To be brutually honest, we need a guy like him who can slap people around. Given the situation, both the government and the Maoists need to be gotten rid of in some some sort of a "parwa", maybe in a "momo parwa". In other words, Junga Bahadur( a re-mixed one) is much needed.

You are right Mr. Rose, Nepal is in need of a dictator like ruler. None of the parties that exist are capable of running the country. And Maoists have repeatdly shown that they are up to no good. A third party should call for the talks between the Maoists and the government and other party leaders and just spray them all. If Dependra alone can kill all those people under the infleunce of of alcohol and drugs, a patriotic nepali can certainly do that.

If Prithivi Narayan Shaha can form a country by killing all those who came on his way and be admired by the nation as being the founding father of our nation, one who kills those that are out to destroy our country can certainly be admired as one who saved the country.
