The local people elsewhere need to follow this example. Seems like the government can't protect it's people, the people have to be vigilant themselves.

KOL Report

KATHMANDU, April 1 – Locals at the capital's Balaju area helped security personnel arrest a Maoist who was escaping after hurling a bomb at a government office at around 8:45 a.m. Monday morning.

Navaraj Pudasaini, 22, of Gorkha district was immediately surrounded jointly by alert locals and security forces after he was attempting to run way after hurling a petrol bomb at the main gate of an office of the Department of Quality Control and Measurement. Though the bomb was targeted at the nearby government vehicles, police said that it hasn't caused much damage.

Jitendra Shah, a reporter with Kantipur Daily, our sister publications, also quotes officials at Kathmandu District Police Office as saying that that the security forces have launched a massive search operation in the city based on the information provided by Pudasaini about his accomplices.

Meanwhile, Maoists also shot dead Police Sub-Inspector Bharat Dhakal at his residence in Gongabu in front of his wife and son Sunday evening. Dhakal's father is a Ward Chairman at a village in Syangja from the ruling Nepali Congress party. (sjs)

Local people have, infact, tried this in Darchula, and have paid with their lives.

Security forces stick around for a few days and head back to the district headquarters. Who guarantees the locals' security?

Now I understand a little better the RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS issue riased by Charlton Heton and his organization a little better.

Maoists can be hurled only with people's involvment, the army alone is not enough. For this reason, both UML and NC have to get their cadres on their feet to resist or foil maoist attacks. They should let these terrorists know we have had enough.

Unfortunately, all the political figures living in their safe homes in Kathmandu, and all the bickering going on, nothing's gonna happen.

As far as I am concerend, Nepal's democracy has failed with coward leadership. I don't mind if the King takes over or even the Maoists, I have lost my patience...

"unity is strength" if we all hold our hands together to discourage these henious attacks by so-called maobadis, we will succeed. as we all know how pathetic our govt. is and we have seen enough that our security is not guranteed by our govt. we have to be united like americans did after sept.11th. but it is unfortuate to have home grown terrorists.we can do it fellows. we are so fed up with these so-called netas as well. they are not going to do anything guys.to rely on them means to put ourselves on the ditch. i think it is a smart move if we see activities in our neigbourhood we act on our own instead dialing them(meant cops).i know it is so risky but hey"hudaina bihaan mirmire tara jharera nagaya, bandain muluk dui chaar saput marera nageya"-Bhupi sherchan.
