The first Nepal Bandh I remember was on Chaitra 1,2046. It was called by Nepali
Congress and Bam Morcha. The Chaitra 24,2046 Nepal Bandha was called by
a group of leftist organization lead by Dr Babu Ram Bhattarai. BRB and his party
still commemorate the Bandh of Chaitra 24.

After getting tired of Nepal Bandhas, Raja Ram Poudyal and friends organized a program in the heart of Kathmandu a couple of years ago. They have designed an effigy (to represent political parties who call Nepal bandha) and asked people to participate by throwing their old shoes to it to show politicians that people are against their frequent calls for Nepal bandha. Mr. Poudyal claims that the program was a huge success despite the rainy day in which they collected 4000+ old shoes. Well, political parties and politicians never seem to get the message. Ke garne, 'bujhne lai srikhanda… nabujhne.lai khurpa ko beend…'
