AtThese maoists leaders are surely a bunch of crap. Here they are trying to stop sutdents from taking one of the most important examination in Nepal SLC and guess where there kids are?? Read the article posted in Kathmandu post and find it for your self. Damn these bunch of hypocrate fools. KATHMANDU, April 4 - If you are under the impression that the Maoist leaders believe in educational institutions inside the country read this: The daughter of Dr. Baburam Bhattarai and Hisila Yami who has been identified as Manushi has flown to London for pursuing higher studies. This is a far cry from students who are sitting for the examination in a highly charged atmosphere, notwithstanding the fact that the bandh has been called off. Word meanwhile is she is not alone who enjoys the privilege of attending the foreign university even as the parents are supposedly waging a people’s war. Of course, the fact that the daughter of Comrade Prachanda has long been known to be attending a college in Dehradun. Not far behind is Comrade Badal whose son too is studying in a Dehradun college. Then there is Suresh Alemagar whose two sons too are studying in a Dehradun college. While those at the top are in a position to admit their son abroad, there is a school in Chitwan, which caters to the need of the lowly activists of the party. Not surprisingly, the school in question was free from the bother of handing out so-called “ chanda” last year when the rebels were busy extorting money from schools.

These people should be stoned to death. I always thought killing someone like that would be barbaric and too cruel but now I think even stoning them to death would be less for the crime they have committed to the whole new generation of the mankind. Everyone knows how it feels to give SLC exam and now add to this the constant threat of bomb, bullets, and bandhs... I don't know how I would concentrate on my studies. If something goes wrong during this moment, my whole life is destroyed... I don't get second chance. Now I am asking the fellow netizens are these so called maobadi's son's and daughter are responsible for this or not? If something bad happens to them who should be responsible? their own parents or is it the sudden burst of 20 million poor nepalis anger? Is Manushi yami (Daughter of Baburam and Hishila ) is part of this or not? please reply... thanks Chandrama (the moon)

SLC is already a huge pressure for 16 years old because it is called Iron Gate in Nepal. This time with life threatening Nepal bandha and army-police strip search, one can imagine what those kids had in their minds just before the exam started. So, this is going to be a very interesting result to watch. The controller has already admitted that about 2% students didn't attend the exam. Some even complained that they didn’t get the message about the bandha withdrawal. About maoist leaders kids, I don't think they are responsible for any of this. This just shows that Maoists are very concerned about their kids' education/future, but not of rest of the Nepalese. I'm curious what kind of excuses they use when they join mainstream politics sooner or later. Since the leaders are not accessible, one might find their kids for revenge. But, I think, that is very unlikely because Nepalese people are very cool despite of all these low-blow incidents.

Can you forgive them for the deaths of 3000+ people? That is like allowing Bin Laden to join mainstream international politics.

If we don't stop it now, that number might reach in lakhs some years from now. So, if they give up arms and join mainstream politics, we got to accept them. We can deny them in election like HELL though! Read Barbara Adams article in people's review: http://www.yomari.net/p-review/2002/04/04042002/barbara.html

I have never understood why so-called communist leaders and Marxist intellectuals in Nepal keep on denouncing the usual suspects such as capitalism, the West and globalization in public, yet continue to send their sons and daughters off to colleges and universities in the West, often on scholarships financed by non-Nepalis. I am NOT saying that these people should NOT send their children off to the West, but that when they do, they should have the honesty to own up to that fact in public. Sure, there ARE legitimate, evidence-based comments that one can make against capitalism, the West and globalization. And that's fine. But our communist leaders and Marxist intellectuals appear intellectually dishonest when they routinely SUPPRESS or play down evidence that contradicts their rigid party line viewpoints. And just because they use fancy words and smooth language, they think they can get away with all kinds of muddled ideas. The world to them is all black and white. Either you are with them or against them There is no middle ground, no grey area, no room for doubts. (And the greatest enemy of a Nepali communist is another Nepali communist who used to be his comrade but now runs his own faction.) And these communist leaders and Marxist intellectuals are intellectually incapable of dealing with complexities, with ambiguities and with uncertainties. Their attitude is: We KNOW the answers, and we need NOT know more, which is pretty much BRB's attitude too, and that's a very dangerous attitude to have. oohi ashu ktm, nepal
